If you have server with sites that has no scripting capabilities, how many sites do you think a powerful server could handle. Those of you who offer free hosting should be able to give me an answer.... please?

And is there some scripting languages that generally doesn`t require much cpu resources?

Well, it depends.

I say you could fit 300 low sites on a P3 800 w/ 512MB RAM...but that's pushing it.

A powerful server is about what Fiber mentioned. I thought it could handle a lot more than 300 on a server if the sites has no scripting. How do "free website" hosts manage?

i think you could put more of them on it.. conidering it wouldnt be virtual hosting..or would it?

Yes, I thought about it for virtual hosting. But I`m not interested anymore :)

Yeah, Wizard's Hosting does that....j/k.

I know some people who run high-power Sun Microsystem servers, and they have been able to fit 2500 sites onto one server. Some of the sites were complex, too. But, if you take into consideration that people using SUN servers, normally pay upto $25,000 for their server. This is one of the reasons they load it down with so many sites.
