Hi there,

i have a couple of quicky questions about accepting credit cards...

Facts:

-I have no merchant account (am UK based)
-I need repeat billing

Do you have any suggestions on this? I have looked at worldpay as a possibility but have not found much else. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

I would go with worldpay... multi currency, can get money in your own currency and you will same money on wire transfer as they are located in UK.

http://www.worldpay.com/uk/pricing/pricing_worlddirect.shtml

in summary £125 annual fee and 4.5% Transaction Service Charge on credit card transactions

You might want to check out Revecom.com by PaySystems.com. They accept International merchants and do not require you to have a merchant account.

Revecom charges 3.95% + US$1 per transaction. There's a one-time setup fee of around US$50 and no monthly fees.

We've been using them and find them pretty good. Their URL is: http://www.revecom.com/

Hope this helps.

Yeah just heard about them, they do look good. The $1 is a bit of a pain, i wanted to do products at $7.95 but i would loose $1.30 which is quite a lot (20%) whereas worldpay is 4.5% or $0.75 max for debit card.

The setup fee is a lot nicer but still....

any suggestions/comments on these two companies?

Eddie,

Thanks for posting the url to the "summary of charges". I could`nt find it, a while back, when I looked.

As you seem to using them for C.C. could you tell me if they have a feature which alows me to go in to some interface and make manual charges to my customers? Lets say I need to charge for overage traffic, or maybe a domain pointer, this is ofcourse only an example, but is this possible?

Thanks, in advance.

Basically No.
But if a customer ahs a monthly agreement you can increase it, but this has to be done a week before the payment date.

What I do is have an invoice payment page:
http://www.hostroute.com/payment.html where I can send them to make the payment in advance of the work being done.
Works every time.

what would you do at revecom.com is there something like this you can do?

One issue i see is if i want to charge people $x at the first month (if they want a domain name for example) and then a lower monthly bill.

Just like Gordon Said, you cannot do manual charges.

Has anyone heard of CCNOW? Are they reputable?

I don't think that CCNow supports auto re-billing.

I was taking a look at WorldPay last night. From what I was it requires a merchant account. Is that right, or was I just reading things wrong? (happens at 4am sometimes)

We had some correspondence with WorldPay recently; they don't require a merchant account, just a normal bank account.

However, if you do already have a merchant account and would like to use their payment processing and fraud protection system in conjunction with your existing merchant account, they provide for that as well.

Mark,

Thanks for the clarification... Seems to lot of payment provider sites tend to be light on the ground when it comes to that - Revecom is much the same :)

Well, it just so happens I was reading through their web site last night too. Anyway, not that the info the do give is very lucid, but from what I read they do seem to allow the type of billing you require. http://www.worldpay.com/aus/products_services/product_selection/billing.shtml

If you still have not decided yet, I have been using Revecom (PaySystems.com) for a while now and they have an excellent service. Yes it is true their fees are really high, but they are extremely good at taking care of fraudulent transactions and they now have a system called TPP Pro which is the one I use. With TPP Pro you can use your own shopping cart or ordering system and pass the variables on to them. It is quite nice and it supports recurring billing.

One more thing. Their support is really slow, but they get back to you anyway within 24 hours. :)

I'm using instabill.com but there was one time that it declined one customer and didn't notify both me and the customer.

And there was my client waiting for his account to be setup, until she decided to email me.

I felt so bad about it I had to give her 1 month hosting. I wish instabill would pay for that
