Anybody else out there dismayed to find that ZDNet has acquired Softseek.com? IMHO I find the ZDNet download page as well as Downloads.com poorly structured. Softseek had a great system of categories of nearly any kind of software you seek, sure Download.com and ZDNet have mostly the same software but I find it more difficult to find unless I know the name of the program or I can do a search of what type it is and sift through 100's of matches.

Even i was using softseek.com and always thought it was better then downlaod and zdnet.
I miss it. 100% true it was better structured then other sites.

I've been using it since 97', when I first got on the damn internet. ALWAYS went there for my downloads, and its gone. I *HATE* ZDNET with a passion, I really do, so now I goto download.com (which I hate too)

Bastages at ZDNet emailed me back after I sent them an email about the merge and asked why they didn't just leave the softseek site the way it was and change the logos but keep the layout and this is their response:

We understand your concern, re the merging of Softseek with ZD
Downloads, but believe it will result in a stronger service in the
longer term.
We take your comments seriously and will consider them as we further
develop our site.
