I should have taken a hint when WHT changed hosts. Seems like mysql has been down all day. I opened a ticket this morning, no reponse yet. Called 800 number several times today, no one is answering tech support or sales (probably rings the same phone anyways). Anyone else having problems with mysql and their liquidweb sites? I looked at recent posts here and other places, looks like liquidweb is going down the tubes. I think I'll change over to wizardshosting now for my phpBB sites.

WHT was never hosted by liquid web... how about dropping them an email? or icq'ng a message to them?

That means that the mysql server isn't running (or the socket file was deleted). It wouldn't be a "host-wide" problem, rather a server-specific issue (otherwise it wouldn't be using a unix soxket to connect). Someone probably needs to restart mysql on that server and it will be fine.

In regards to contacting them, they have 2 options that I know of, and that are posting on their contact page: 1: "instant phone contact every day of the week" - yea right and 2: "online helpdesk serviced 24 hrs per day" - well, it's been 24 hrs, the helpdesk request hasn't been looked at. Support must be on vacation this weekend. I will dig through my old emails though, and look for a good email address from them, but if they aren't answering the phone or checking for new tickets, I somewhat doubt they are paying attention to emails.
