I just had a technician come to me and tell me he had a sureal call.

It seems a new internet customer in south central US called.
She wanted to know what the counter in the bottom left hand corner of her screen was.
The technician had her doulbe click on the Icon...

It was the Online timer. The customer told the tech that she was up all night watching it, waiting ofr it to countdown, so she could start surfing...
Tech gets her to read the time connected..

19 hrs 21 min

He told her to doulbe click the big blue E on her desktop and go...........

Too funny

LOL, I've heard a lot of strange stories coming from a tech background. To name a few:

"Do you guys sell those new Petroleum 3 modems?"

"I just got a new vtech laptop for my kid, but it didn't come with Windows. Do you sell Windows?"

I once had the customer who filed a complaint to the BBB because we told him that running out of printer ink was not covered under his warranty.

I always love people who call up and have somebody else's computer, and expect you to support them free of charge through a Windows install and get po'ed when you tell them that is why you have labor rates.

The list could go on for eternity... and although I've been a tech for several years I've never had a customer ask about the any key :)

Regards,

Mike

Other thing that always cracks me up.

Customer calls and says they are having a problem. You ask them what kind of problem it is and they tell you they have an error on your screen. Ok... there's only 1000's of posibilities so you gotta ask them what it says and they reply something like "if you look you'll be able to see right in the middle". As if I can see your screen...

Also, customers who have screwed up their computer so much that there is nothing you can do over the phone... a format and reload is due and if they don't have a restore CD and you tell them they need to bring the computer in and one of two things happens. They either expect you to walk them through on the phone how to format and reload the computer, or the complain about how they have to bring their computer in because they don't know how to use it and screwed it up.

OR.... :)

They install software... AOL 6 for instance... and ever since then their computer locks up so they have a bad computer and need a replacement LOL... oh boy, memories :D

Mike

Hehe, just have to keep coming out with new software to keep them a few steps behind :D

I remember a poster I got from http://www.thinkgeek.com

"APATHY - If we don't help the customer, maybe they will stop bugging us."
