Last time I checked, it was somewhere around $15 a Mhz for CISC machines (ex. if you had a 500Mhz PIII it would be $7500) and $25 a Mhz for RISC machines (ex. if you had a 500Mhz Alpha it would be $11250) Crazy stuff. Also, now Oracle doesn't even do phone support for their basic service. It's email only. Of course, no basic service is included in the above prices. We're all in the wrong business! :) kunal 04-11-2001, 02:43 AM WOW  SI-Chris 04-12-2001, 05:23 PM Gee that's strange... my post here from last night got deleted... kunal replied so it must have been here for a while. It wasn't even that offensive. :) kunal 04-12-2001, 07:53 PM intelligent, i dint see your reply :( SI-Chris 04-12-2001, 10:38 PM All I did was point out that the Oracle license was very expensive... which you also put in your post, so I assumed you might have seen mine and replied to it. I still don't know where the post went... no biggie though. allan 04-13-2001, 01:21 PM Originally posted by vermaswarup What is the cost effective way to offer Oracle on a shared web server? Have 800 customers, all using Oracle Databases, connect to the server and it will only be $10 a user...very cost effective if you ask me :). marcum 04-13-2001, 02:39 PM This does not seem very cost effective to me. If a company needs Oracle that bad then they can probably afford to get their own license. |
