The company selling you the server usually can set it up to do everthing you need to run your websites.

Depends whether you plan on purchasing a dedicated server, colocating a server, or hosting your own server.

If you don't know how to set up a server, you might want to think about getting a server for your home to learn Linux on, and just get a reseller account to start. And/Or hire a system admin.

I choose the "hire a system admin" option. It would be more cost-efficient as you could learn Linux administration on your web server while your system administrator does the REAL ADMINING. No need to purchase a computer solely for the purpose of learning Linux. Then again, you could just download Linux for free from some place like RedHat, then you could install it on a partitioned hard disk on your personal computer.
