Ok I am certain I am doing something wrong here but I am lost as to what. My primary domain e-mail works fine for all users and the aliases for each account. However the virtual domains only receive email for the users not for the aliases.
For the virtual domain aliases I get the following errror:
550 5.1.1 <alias@virtualdomain.com>... User unknown
Now if I send an e-mail to alias@www.virtualdomain.com I get the following error:
----- Transcript of session follows -----
554 5.0.0 MX list for http://www.virtualdomain.com. points back to http://www.maindomain.com
554 5.3.5 <alias@www.virtualdomain.com>... Local configuration error
Reporting-MTA: dns; http://www.maindomain.com
I am using the Tera-byte DNS and am using the standard setup:
virtualdomain has an IP of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
mail for virtualdomain.com is delivered to virtualdomain.com with a preference of 5
www has an ip of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
mail for www is delivered to virtualdomain.com with a preference of 5
Non-matching DNS requests forwarded to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
In the Cobalt Control Panel/site management/site settings portion I have not added any e-mail or web server aliases (I have tried adding them with no effect).
In the Cobalt Control Panel/Server management/ e-mail parameters section I have the virtual domain listed both in the relay for the following domains section and the host/domain alias section. I have not listed the domain as http://www.virtualdomain.com but as virtualdomain.com. Is this potentially the problem as many entries were with a www prefix originally. Well any thoughts from the gurus out there? Thanks!
