Has anyone used pear on their servers

Though install seems very straightforward pear does not run . I have a cpanel box.

Ideas anyone.

I use the PEAR::DB in a lot of my scripts, it's not the best abstraction layer in the world, but seen as it gets installed with PHP4 there is a pretty could chance that any script I write will work on most servers.

So is pear installed out of the box on php 4.2.6 + cpanel server
where would be the pear packet manager be loaded.

Horde and IMP require pear [if I remember my IMP 3.0 install]; if CPanel 5.0 is using Horde mail on uwimap then pear must be installed on it

On a side note, I installed squirrelmail on a CPanel server in less than 15 minutes and it works like a charm.

Clients are so happy :)
