Hi,
I've been running really long pings from my linux machine just too see what happens. The results posted here are probably more of a reflection on my ISP than the destinations (I have lightpath.net).
--- fuitadnet.com ping statistics ---
73537 packets transmitted, 70257 packets received, 4% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 106.2/146.7/46695.2 ms
--- mae-east.cais.net ping statistics ---
261 packets transmitted, 260 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 15.5/28.0/255.6 ms
--- netshelter.net ping statistics ---
95047 packets transmitted, 81664 packets received, 14% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 94.1/141.6/27965.9 ms
--- vdi.net ping statistics ---
60416 packets transmitted, 58616 packets received, 2% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 12.1/31.8/17755.5 ms
I thought they were really interesting.. not because of the packet loss, but just because it was cool to leave ping running for hours.. heh.
