View Full Version : Resellers that can offer both unix/win
Jeiara 10-10-2002, 12:16 AM Hello,
I've only found 3 companies whose reseller packages can offer both unix and windows plans (all use the H-Sphere panel). Anyway, how come there are so few companies that can do this??
Check out Hostopia (http://www.hostopia.com).. they offer both :D
xirus 10-10-2002, 03:25 AM www.matrixreseller.com offer it but i hear their support sucks.
maze65 10-10-2002, 06:54 AM Positive Software, who own H-Sphere have a list of resellers on the following link:
http://www.psoft.net/resellers.php
I'm mulling over the same type of reseller account and the 2 providers who have caught my are:
weberz.com and matrixreseller.com

When talking about offering both, it depends on how the hosting company is setup. Unix/Lunix has had a long track history in dependable virtual hosting, Windows based hasn't (but has improved).
Established Unix hosting companies have been able to easily offer reseller programs as a natural extension. Windows based presents different server management problems in a virtual environment. While these Unix companies may offer dedicated Windows solutions, they really haven't found a stable/reliable way to incorporate a reseller program. In short, they usually don't want the headaches.
The reseller interfaces used by H-Sphere and Hostopia are unique in that they offer the ability to allow a choice in setting up accounts either as Linux or Windows from a single reseller account. Can't speak for how well it works with Hostopia (they use their own interface for resellers), but H-Sphere has had quite a few problems ... matrixreseller is apparently their biggest user and a visit to http://www.matrixwebhosting.net/forum/ can give you an idea of some of the snags.
It looks weberz.com dropped H-Sphere as a reseller offering, apparently because of stability and features just not working properly http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73848 .

flashgear 10-11-2002, 04:33 PM H-Sphere is undoubtedly one of the best softwares (CP) around . Probelms do occur with Windows users not using H-Sphere as well :o
it's rather a boon that H-Sphere knd of automation is here .
Jeiara 10-11-2002, 08:41 PM Hi again,
Thanks for all the info, I did another search and my list of only 3 companies is now 10 :D
Half are US based, the others are in different countries. Funny thing I found was like 3 or 4 of them were all based in Florida. I checked out Hostopia didn't see much info, but I did see that they too have an office in Florida! Very interesting coincidence I suppose, unless that's like an H-Sphere haven of some sort :stickout:
tantraking 10-13-2002, 12:59 AM jeiara...what are the 10 companies that offer both unix/windows reselling accounts>>??????
Jeiara 10-13-2002, 03:53 PM google search terms: +linux +windows +sphere +reseller
4 or 5 are listed on 1st page, if you browse more pages, you can spot some more. the first site listed is based in thailand.
geekwannabe 10-14-2002, 03:56 PM FYI,
Since questions are being asked about Hostopia, I thought I would clarify a few small points.
Our interface is owned by us and developed by us.
Also, our solution integrates both operating systems under one unified control panel, websiteos, for all applications including email management.
Finally, when we say integrated we mean that you can run and build websites that combine native Windows apps like, MSAccess, MsSQL, with native Unix apps like Perl and PHP in the same site and even on the same web page.
Web developers find it a really exciting and creative environment to work in.
Also we are headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale and we are a privately held company.
Thanks,
Franc

Yea we offer both but it not that our support sucks its that H-Sphere has had a LOT of bugs as of the last 2 or 3 releases and in turn we have to wait on them and makes us look bad.. :(
Can't really go in a fix things as easy in H-Sphere as you can in say CPanel..
Jeiara 10-15-2002, 11:55 PM hey...
since some of you guys post here, could you explain why ya'll are based in Florida? good connections down there? cheaper? etc. ?

For gee-wiz info: They appear to be a Hostopia partner/reseller
Webworks1 10-18-2002, 11:56 PM As mentioned above weberz.com has both Unix and Windows. While my company doesn’t have a reseller account with them yet, we will soon. Tracy from Webrez has been a HUGE help.
