WildCard 10-08-2002, 04:53 PM Why do you need to host at a firm that only uses macs for their servers?
What if their servers are macintosh, but they use PCs for their billing? Would that sour the deal?
  :crap:

Annoyance 10-08-2002, 07:35 PM does a legitimate, established hosting company that runs on all mac servers even exist? i've certainly never heard of one...
i mean, what kind of serious mac servers are out there anyway? is the mac OS that stable?

Ive never heard of an all mac company before.
NodeHost 10-09-2002, 11:05 AM Chris,
They exist, but usually are not very big. There are several hosts that have either, or - but not all Mac very commonly.
In fact, the all Mac hosts that I have talked to are usually basement hosts, that had them laying around and just trying to get started to buy a Intel Server.....
Maybe she meant that she uses a mac, and she needs a host that is friendly towards macs?
dzineskills 10-09-2002, 01:42 PM :D hi lain.
yes you're are right. I am using a mac along with my 2 other partners. weve all had problems with our pc's in the past so weve completely converted and it is much much better for us. There is a company called itsamac.com.
have you or anyone else heard of it?
is this forum full of pc users only??

Technically what OS your desktops are using VS what OS your web-host uses is as irrelevant to each other as the manufacturer of your bank's ATM is to you delivering your money to you.
Personally I would advise going with a well known, generally used server OS for your hosting solution. (Windows. Linux/Unix, etc) instead of using a mac "server" (if such things exist) JUST to use a Mac.
(The only exception to this would be if the Mac host uses OS10, which really ISNT a Mac OS at all, its a variant of Lixux under a different name that is installed on a mac.
