View Full Version : VenturesOnline or WizardsHosting?

I need to make a hosting decision this week for 3 PHP/MySQL sites that need to be moved over from another server.

After reading the postings and the checking out the plans. I have narrowed the decision down to the top virtual hosting plans from either VenturesOnline or WizardsHosting (Venture 5 or Plus 500).

The customer service seems to be excellent for both companies, so I would like to base my decision purely on server performance, features, security and uptime. Also, if anyone knows, how many sites are hosted on one server at each?

Any suggestions or some data to back either one of these
hosts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

rk

DOH! Not this thread again.... :homer:

As far as I know, both of these companies use the same (or at least similar) server management software: Cpanel. They both have great reps, and their server setups are probably very similar as well. (although I may be really, really wrong on that) :D

IMHO, it's really six of one, half a dozen of the other. I'd say either company is a safe bet. Just go with the one who'se site you like more. *grin*

I'm sure one of these two hosts will reply and correct me and my speculation. ;)

I'm sorry if this seems like a redundant post... I must have read a thousand posts from satisfied customers of both companies.

I'm just looking for some reassurance either way. Possibly some hard data on performance ..... These sites or for clients of mine that I eventually want to move on to a dedicated server anyway.

Hope I didn't annoy too many people.

If youre in for the long haul I'd go with carlos at Wizards... We talk quite a bit over ICQ and hes very helpful, even to competitors.

Well Carlos or someone with WH will have to post about Wizards...

But Ventures is running Dual P3 1 GHz processors with 2 Gigs memory on their Virtual Server. They watch the server load VERY carefully. No more than 300-500 accounts/server depending on the account sizes, CPU usage, etc.

I am on said server, and it rocks. :D

The team at Ventures have each been in the business for quite some time and are also in it for the long haul. They do a phenomenal job. In fact Paul is out at VDI right now working with the servers. VO staff is nearly always on ICQ and support is taken care of quickly and courteously.

Old customers are taken care of just as well as new ones. :) Very happy.

Bailey,

Thanks so much for the details. Looks like VO servers really pack some power. That's the kind of info I was looking for, but couldn't find in previous posts.

Most people seem to like both companies alot and since I never switched servers before, I'm looking for some other info besides customer service to help make a final decision.

Hopefully someone who knows about Wizards will post soon, I have to decide by later tomorrow.

One thing I like about Wizards was the fact that they restrict the use of telnet to prevent people from screwing up the server. Does VO have the same policy?

Thanks,

Rich

errr .. we limit the use of telnel in a few servers .. but all of the servers have SSH telnet activated
