View Full Version : I made a decision

I decided to go with HostRocket for my site. Thanks to all the folks who answered my newb questions on this forum.

Also thanks to Wizards hosting. They were my runner-up choice and gave me super-fast responses to my inquires just like HostRocket. The reason I didn't go with Wizards is because I'd be screwed with the 20% limitation on file downloads.

I'm sure I'll have more ?'s about using the features that I got with my account, so I'll be hanging around.

Well, it looks Russian to me, very Russian or Slovak based anyway, which is close enough to figure out. It's difficult to translate a language that people are guessing on how to spell the words to be pronounced in English, without the proper Cyrillic's... When I get a few minutes free, I'll try and translate the posts.

Вы говорите по-английски? Никто здесь не делает. Вы можете отправить по почте использование надлежащей Кириллицы, так что я не должен предположить что ваша Английская версия означает?

Believe me, it looks weird to me too. I hate trying to figure out what people are trying to say in Russian, using the English alphabet. Some sounds can't be emulated and it's confusing. Not only that, but different people have their own way of translating. Russian has many sub dialects on top of that, which is easy to get by, if the proper characters / Cyrillic's are used. I mean ,I can understand some of what he said, but some is just garbage to me when people use their own idea to try and directly port the language over. I don't see the point. I've asked him to please post using Russian characters, as I did above, so I can at least translate it.

Actually I ran the above text through BabelFish (http://babelfish.altavista.com) as Russian and it didn't recognise it, so I doubt it's Russian, which is why I suggested a Balkan language.

To post starter! Unfortunately you can't delete posts anymore, cause I would recommend you do exactly that as your topic has been completely ignored.

Everyone else, move the language debate to the General Conversation forum please! :)

That..was.. FUNNY!

And to the original poster (g a tt a, g a tt a, g a tt a and Gatta was his name, o'),

They both seem like very good companies and are both active on these forums (heck, one of them hosts these forums!)! That is a good sign, because if they had bad reputations they probably wouldn't show their faces around here! ;)

These forums are a great resource and I am glad you found help here. Good luck!

True enough, based on commentary from various people and a look at their support forum, when it's up. But why aren't you posting in English?

Trust me, is was Russian, he just didn't use Russian characters, is why it wouldn't translate. You can't translate Russian that's been attempted to be spelled and pronounced using our Alphabet. Had he used the proper characters, you could translate it, I suppose, although I've never tried Babblefish, as I didn't know it was able to with Russian. That's cool. :-)
