Hi,
There have been alot of posts like this lately, so I figured I would give one a shot. I'm looking for a server administration or programming job on either monthly, case-by-case, or hourly wages.
Abilities:
Programmming in PHP3/4, Perl, HTML, VBScript, Visual Basic, a little JavaScript and ASP.
Administering UNIX systems (very familiar with FreeBSD, Slackware/RedHat/Mandrake linux).
Installing/Configuring UNIX applications including Apache, BIND, QMail.
Securing UNIX systems as safe shell servers.
Integrate webhost manager with automated signup scripts in a secure way.
References available upon request.
If you are interested, either post here or send an e-mail to balto@xer0.com.
Thanks,
Andrew

Because there's a market for it. ChiliSoft supports it, for example.

I put it up there because it is something I am capable of doing. I'm not sure exactly what the market for VBScript/Visual Basic/ASP is out there, but I know I am capable of using those languages, and I wanted to include that fact.

Anything that can be used as an application or interface on a Windows based server, is and has always been desirable. And, a lot of requests from employers with such servers, are wanting people that code a lot in Visual Basic and often C++ and a lot of requests for Java and JavaScript and DHTML, as well as MS Access. Basically, a lot of IT crap that could be better on a Unix variant. So, you might have that knowledge serve a a bonus for you, if a company wants to hire someone for Unix tasks, yet be able to have you assist with tasks that are on NT servers.
Although I too do ASP, C++, etc. I simply hate JavaScript and I never bothered to learn much about it. I know it's simple enough to work with, if I had to, but there's no point and it's completely worthless to deal with. However, I recall former inquiries from head hunters asking if I could also code JS and so Visual Basic, which I didn't want to promise of commit to, nor for MS Access, even if I have and do so sometimes, because there's better things out there, so I turned them down. If you're up to the task or want to, that's where a lot of jobs seem to be.
I'm trying to get away (completely) from supporting any NT hsost or people that *require* JavaScript and Visual Basic. (I'd prefer to code in something that runs more efficently, and I don't bother with Delphi or other such languages either), so needless to say, I've lost the chance to have, or had turned down a few offers before. So, if you're willing to do that (VB, etc.), I think your variety will pay off, and it's always helpful and useful. Good luck.
