View Full Version : ALL RackLocation customers/users
node9 04-04-2001, 03:51 PM Hey, i got my server from dialtone thru RackLocation
as most of you know, it is SUPPOSE to be MOVED to pogolinux's facility, right? well it has been over a month now, and today, my server mysteriously went down
I am trying to get in touch with PogoLinux to see if they did indeed move my server, or if my server is messed up
I'm wondering, are there any racklocation customers out there that still have their server online?? Or is yours down too??
Could it be possible that entire diatone is down?
I doubt that, I think it's just my server
anyone ??
webfors 04-04-2001, 05:06 PM My racklocation server went down today as well. It's not dialtone's network (you can easily verify that by going to http://www.dialtoneinternet.com).
I'm not sure what's happening!

Matt2000 04-04-2001, 05:50 PM My server is down, and of course I had to come here to find out what's going on.
Can anyone give me a short version of what the deal is with Racklocation? Are they moving their servers or something? Of course I received no notification of this, and the thread that was discussing this has been deleted.
Thanks alot, and is anyone actually planning to stay with them after this mess?
Matt
Rehan 04-04-2001, 06:00 PM If my server eventually rises from its ashes, I'm planning to use it as a backup DNS and mail server and a place to test things out.
node9 04-04-2001, 06:01 PM Yes
all racklocation servers are being moved to pogolinux's data center
If your server went down today, most likely it'll be back up tomorrow or latest the day after tomorrow
You will all probably be emailed the new ipaddresses and etc for your server
they are being shipped with next-day air
and yes i did not receive any notification from pogolinux or racklocation at all about this
It has taken forever for the servers to be moved
lets all just be glad they are finally out of racklocation's hands
node9 04-04-2001, 06:02 PM i meant no i also didnt receive an email*
Maybe Matrix cam help us out here, Hey matrix, you try emailing pogo?
LOL
j/k

isn't that bad/unprofessional (though, good news for you actually :D) to just shut down your server for 2 days without any notification. I would expect pogolinux to let its customers know about this...
cheers,

Phiberop 04-05-2001, 02:51 AM Wow, If a company just moved my server on me without letting me know I would be very very upset. It wouldn't matter who the company was, what price they offered, or how great their support was.... that would probably encourage me to go elsewhere... but Im not one to take things like that lightly either so...
Regards,
Mike

Matrix 04-05-2001, 05:18 PM Well the server that I was on is still up and running so they haven't moved all of them.
Barak 04-05-2001, 06:27 PM Despite having sent a cancellation email to racklocation (I also copied pogo-linux into the mail) I just received their email about setting up a new server at their datacentre. guess I'm now gonna have to go through the whole thing of getting it cancelled and arguing over the money-back guarantee which no doubt they'll deny responsibility for.
PogoLinux 04-05-2001, 06:29 PM Here's the email that was just sent to all Racklocation users. By the way, if you have already cancelled and you received this email, it's because your email is still in the list.
As you may be aware, Netcolony/Racklocation has not been administering your
server. We offered them to send all the servers to us to manage, however it
seems that will not happen soon. We are now offering you the opportunity to
host directly with us. Rather than waiting for your original server to be
sent by us, we are going to just set up new servers for ex-Racklocation
customers. If you can confirm that you want to make this move, we can have
your server up and running in our datacenter by tomorrow.
Please consult our Services page at: http://www.pogolinux.com/services/
Let me know which service plan you would like. We will not be charging setup
fees for the new account. We will not be offering the $99 plan...the
cheapest plan we have is the $149 plan.
If you decide not to host with us, you should not rely on your server at
Racklocation to remain functional. Netcolony is no longer adminstering those
servers and they may be disconnected by them at any time. We have no control
over what might happen to your server. I would strongly recommend that you
move your data as soon as possible. You have not been and will not be
charged for March service.
Please reply via email as soon as possible to confirm whether you want to
host with us or if you will host somewhere else.
