Does anyone who hosts with CIS have any idea what is going on there. Our sites have been down since around 5 today. All CIS sites seem to be unavailable. Let me know if you hear anything, thanks!

I'll keep you posted as I find out what the difficulties were. One point to make is, as they brought servers back online, theirs was last.
I've never had any problems with CIS in the past and they have always been very helpful and prompt in responding to my requests.
They had me worried tonight... Stay Tuned.

NEWS: The network failure that happened on 4/3/01 was due to a main trunk on the AT&T Network being severed. This caused most of the NJ to Maryland area to be without service.
Copy and pasted from CIS site.

I encountered the same problem. I called their 1-877 # and they had a message telling of the issue. It seems as if it really was none of their fault. Before I called I sent them an email which they promptly (within an hour or two) replied to.
Here was their reply: The network failure was not due to anything on our systems. It was a problem with the main fiber trunk on the East Coast with AT&T from New Jersey to Maryland. 1000's of businesses lost connectivity including us due to the severed fiber cables. We apologize for any problems this may have caused.
I sent them another email telling them everything was fixed and asking if they were usually there this late and here was their response: We are actually here until about midnight regardless..
We are going to be here later tonight to answer the hundreds of emails that are now starting to flow in from earlier today
Sorry again.. (from us and AT&Ts techs, they apoligized many times over everytime we called them for an update)
Anyway, it seems to be fixed. All of my stuff is back up now!
I suggest you write down their toll free # for future reference! It was a fluke that I had it laying around here!
And I am not going to lose confidence in CIS yet. I mean, they did a good job keeping us informed (as quickly as they could). And it sounds like they were working hard (and still are, answering emails) behind the scenes.
Cheers,
Michael

CIS has handled this situation to the best of their ability, going the extra mile to get us all back online and communicating during the process.
Thanks CIS and keep up the good work!

AT&T has screwed with everybody lately. A look through this board over the last month or so will show you a lot of different companies, and a lot of different NOC's all bearing the weight of their problem.
I mentioned this in another thread but a lot of us outside the continental US have been watching the wheels fall off you guys on and off for weeks now. Generally speaking I'm seeing AT&T as to blame for a lot of it. Not all of it mind due, but they do seems to be there when it hits the fan in most cases...
