I asked this question in the Web Hosting area, but I think you guys are more likely to be of help. Since I am a reseller, and am seeking the advice of resellers, I believe this post is topical.

I have a reseller account with another company, but want to establish a separate account for an ecommerce project I've done.

Can you point me toward some of the bigger, more established single domain hosts that you could recommend? I would rather not go with a really new company, and I'd like to spend $10-15/mo. if I can get good service for that.

Thanks

I suppose you'd like to know more specifics...

Reliability and company stability is more important than loads of bandwidth. As long as it's reasonable for a small ecom site, I'm not worried about it. I do need CGI and the ability to install SSL.

Thanks again,

What do you consider bigger, more established? I'm not sure how big some of these companies are, but you can check out www.flohost.com and www.httpme.com . Also, how much are you looking for for $10-15? You can't really get too much for that little.

Hope this helps.

httpme.com is for reseller accounts only. As for the FloHost, the plan I would use is only $5/mo, which seems too cheap to be quality service.

It seems like you could get some pretty good single domain plans for $10-15 after all the $2.95/mo crap I've seen.

I'm leaning toward Media Temple, has anyone experienced anything negative from them?

You say

Need quality, reliable hosting for vital site.

Then you say

I'd like to spend $10-15/mo

Just how vital is the site? How much will downtime cost you? You make it sound very vital and important, but then you say you only want to spend $10-15/month.

That's like saying good, reliable transportation is important to me, but I only want to spend $500 on a car. I'm not saying you can't get good hosting for your price, just if the site is that vital, I would think saving dollars on hosting would be the least of your thoughts.

Checkout http://HostNexus.com for a reseller account that uses Rackspace.

I'd probably lean towards VenturesOnline also, but Media Temple sure do have a good standing in the design community
