I'm looking for frank, honest feedback on our site design. We are going for the professional, no non-sense look. Is it too dull? Does it look like crap on your browser?

Go here: http://www.assortedinternet.com

Then come back and tell me the honest, and painfull truth. Of course, if you think it sucks, I'd appreciate any thoughts on improvements.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Looks fine to me. Of course I never liked IMG tags anyway, so if it looks fine to me it will probably look over-simple to everyone else.

It's not bad, but it is kind of dull. There's no color, add more color such as a dark blue or something. And add more images.. people like some good images. Overall I think it looks good.

It's a little... stretched out. I have to use the horizontal scroll bar to catch all of the words.. some are chopped (at 800x600). You may want to put it all in a table and make it oh... 95% of the window.

I just personally prefer neat little text blocks :)

I too would add a little color. Teals, blues and greens always go over well.

Hey, I looked at your website. Looks fine, except one thing: On my monitor (17 inch) the text goes off the page alittle and I have to scroll over. This is never good. I suggest that you set the width to 100% so the text never goes off the page. I hate when I have to scroll cause it takes alot of time and gets people irriated.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. I always surf at 1024x768 so I didn't even notice the cut off problem. I'll be fixing it shortly.

Take care,

it is pretty basic, but not all that bad, change the color of your links to a dark gray. purple won't cut it.

Looking at it at 1,280x1024.

I think it's just far too plain. Sure you're trying to make it look 'professional' but it looks more like a fly by night operation.
It might cut it for an Amway convention, but I think some extra effort gives a more serious and established appearance.

A few suggestions:

A decent logo in the top left.
Redesign the navbar with simple images and a rollover effect.
Possibly format the tables differently. Maybe add an image in the middle table to break it up some.
Rather than using the table headers with the gray bgcolor, make a simple graphic divider.
I think this would give a clean professional look to the site and it would still be fast loading.
Of course, this all depends on what you consider to be 'nonsense'.

To me it look like an install file - something whipped together and crammed in a zip file. I think you have to excite people a little these days - especially with a bland subject like hosting. If we were selling sports cars or something the product would just sell itself.

I like the quick loading of the page, but it does need something a little flashier to look at in my opinion. Logos are pretty important, and what I see there is just plain old text with an A.

All those horizonal bars and plain text don't inspire me to look through the site and dig for more information.

Grey is a pretty hard color to work with as it's pretty hard to get anuything impressive out of it. Most people see grey all day long looking at windows after all

ya, very simple.

there are no graphics, only those letters and circles. The modern site is packed with graphics.

You need some color and some cool designs. Easier said then done, I understand.

I agree w/ the color thing. Add a splash of blue or green (teal) to the topic bars ("technical consulting", etc.)
Otherwise, looks fine...Just needs something to pop out at you and catch your eye...

There is one good thing about having an all text site. The fact that you can use it through your PALM VII so that customers can navigate your site and support center without having all the broken images and the bandwidth charges.

Although, to a normal, desktop computer, it looks plain.

Oh well, its your call.

I dont like it. Too plain for a professional site. I would be hesitant to use you based on the design if I were a potential client.

As stated already a few suggestions

Add some color to it. Soft blues or something to living it up a bit.
Add a colorful logo
Navigation is good.

Hi!
I agree with the general consensus that your site is a little bland. As a start you might want to fix up the little images. They are kind of jagged. If you make them crisper (and not have the little blank pixels) and more defined you will be on your way to a more professional looking site.
