View Full Version : P4 2.0 ghz, 1 GB RAM, 100 GB HD, and 12 mb/s unmetered multi-homed
chavvon 10-04-2002, 09:21 AM www.hostmania.net is offering Supermicro p4 2.0 Ghz servers with 1 GB of RAM and a 100 GB hard drive with a 12 mb/s unmetered network connection for $399/mo and $399 setup. The network is only Cogent today (66.28.28.90), but we are adding www.aleron.com to this special in the next 30 days. You will have unmetered multi-homed connectivity from both providers.
These are pure dedicated servers and are not part of our MSE family. The servers aren't even listed on the web site, only in the store. Click on any "buy now" button to place an order.
Our network is 100% layer 3 switching for wire speed routing. We also have Netscreen firewalls (www.netscreen.com) to protect against DOS/DDOS and other attacks that might effect network performance.
These packages are being custom tailored to our customers so we have not installed them before hand. Pick between Red Hat 7.1, Red Hat 7.2, Red Hat 7.3, or FreeBSD as your operating system and also specify your disk partitions, swap, and anything else you choose by emailing orders@hostmania.net.
These servers will be setup 5-7 business days from the time you place your order, or the first month is free.
For questions, please email us at sales@hostmania.net We have other options available such as RAID, contact us with your needs.
clocker1996 10-04-2002, 02:02 PM how do we know this isn't goign to turn out like last time? will our payments just all the sudden disappear, leaving us to do charge backs with once again, no server? =/
after the last episode, im not sure if i can trust you guys again
chavvon 10-04-2002, 02:40 PM I undestand your concerns and I would have the same. We have made some major changes and we are now processing through JP Morgan Chase.
It's a stable processor that we have a nice banking relationship with as well. They undestand our business 100% and have offered execellent service to us.
If our previous processor had not closed our account, none of the issues we encountered would have occurred. It was my job to do more diligence on a processor, and that's where I faied.
This service offering is solid and we have made sure that what happened before, will never happen again.
Call me to talk about payment options if you're unsure. We're flexible on doing whatever makes you comfortable.
Please contact me for customer references to see if our customers are happy.
Regards.
Chavvon

Faggle 10-07-2002, 02:47 PM Is there any guaranteed transfer in this deal? Like X gigs a month or will this turn into a FDCservers setup where you get 10k/s if your lucky hehe.
chavvon 10-07-2002, 02:49 PM Faggle.
This is guaranteed throughput.
The circuits will never be saturated.
Regards,
Chavvon
LinuxRigs 10-11-2002, 09:00 AM Do you offer colocation at a similar price?
chavvon 10-11-2002, 10:09 AM yes we do.
How much space do you need?

LinuxRigs 10-11-2002, 10:17 AM Don't have exact size, but it's a mid-tower server.
What's your uptime guarantee? If cogent goes down will the other (when available) kick in immediately? What do you not allow on a server (adult, irc, etc.). How much would it cost to just colocate a server that needs no bandwidth (i.e. mysql server). I think that's it for now.
chavvon 10-11-2002, 10:23 AM Cogent has no uptime guarantee, but we haven't had a minute of downtime in 16 months.
The two carriers will be running BGP so traffic will take the best route. If one's not available, the other will take over 100%.
All legal content is allowed.
colo is $35/u
1/4 rack for $300
1/2 for $500
full for $900
With additional services colo cost come down.

LinuxRigs 10-11-2002, 01:00 PM Ok, how much for the one mid-tower and 12mb/s total? Found the dimensions for the tower, it is (L) 19.25" x (W) 8" x (H) 17". Does any bandwidth come with the prices you quoted below? If not, how much is it to add?
Do you not have any uptime guarantee at all? 99, 99.5, 99.7, etc? I'm not expecting 99.9999999% uptime, but some kind of guarantee would be nice.
chavvon 10-11-2002, 04:44 PM If you use a midtower, it has to be rackmountable with brackets and the whole nien yards.
We can offer 99.99% uptim without a problem and bandwidth is $40/mb.
Contact sales@hostmania.net for more details.
