This is _really_ strange! I was JUST NOW surfing the Net looking at old Atari systems and was just about to post about my first computer, which was an Atari, and I saw your post! Now I'm really creeped out! You want Atari games? For what, 2600, or? *L*

Remember when Pole Position for the Atari was the best, most action packed game alive? It was hailed as a new dawn of gaming... We've come a long way since (just finished playing Star Trek Invasion on the Playstation)

hehehe, I had the original atari with the wooden front panel ;-)

Hahahaha, the rest followed...
Those were the days I tell you. Playing a game till you finished it and time didn't exist because you were too young too worry about such a thing. Hell, one week seemed like one month at the time ;-)

Anyways, I am still looking for that Atari DJ record bag so if you know where i can find/buy that one let me know.
It's black with the Atari logo and text on it.

Oh did i mention that i have an original atari jacket (http://www.thefortresshouse.com/1973228480384/media/vegas_1/atari_jacket.jpg)? Just edited this and added a picture. My girlfriend sometimes wears it and everybody is looking and wants to touch her ehm... the jacket offcourse. heheeh.

I remember playing Defender on my Atari system until my hand was bleeding and cramped up. I never did make it to the end....
My ultimate favorite video game from way back when was Zaxxon. Anyone remember that one? I must have dropped a TON of quarters in that one. :)

Ok..I'm going to get my AC/DC cassettes out now and hook up the 2600.

memories..... :)

I used to play Zaxxon on the old 'table top' machines years ago. I'd play till I had the top 5 places, then stop, come back later on to see if anyone had beaten a score of mine, then play till I got rid of their score :)

Also loved Gyruss and Galaga

Hehe, I want a new version of Pong to come out. Instead of a white dot, you could pick the face of any boy band member. Nothing better than whacking a Backstreet Boy's head across the screen for an hour in aggression :)

I followed that link that chicken suggested. Did you know that Atari was originally going to be called "Syzygy"?

Er? Huh? Siz-eg-ee Maybe?

Like I am one to speak about silly product names!

I mean who ever heard of "Zaptacular" anyway?

Hey, in my defense, it's hard to find a .com name that isn't taken! I thought I did pretty good with Spreetree.com though. I mean it's short and memorable. Maybe I should sell it and buy a summer home in Florida! God knows with all the time I spend here and working on the hosting thing it's falling into disrepair!

Anyway, as far as Atari goes, I used to be a big Pitfall addict! Here are the games I can remember having: Pitfall, Frogger, Othello, Space Invaders, That one with the tanks in the maze?, Pacman, Pong (I think it was pong), I know there were more... oh come one Atari polluted brain!

And yes I had the one with the fake wood on the front too!

Hey, who else out there had a Commodore 128 that was 64 compatible? I used to program RPG games for me and my friend (he had a 64). I don't think I ever fully finished one!

Michael

I used to have a Commodore Vic-20 :)

Never heard of it!

Was it better or worse than a 128?

I heard of it - I used to have one too. The Vic 20 was the precursor to the Commodore 64. 20 throbbing K of power (with an extra 4K in the expansion pack if I remember rightly)

Isn't it amazing that now a 'good' webpage has around 30k at the most in it's index. That's almost half the entire processing power (in K) of the Commodore 64. I downloaded a C64 emulator a while ago. It was 2 meg, just to slow down my machine enough to make it run correctly :) Seeing that blue/blue screen with the Commodore 64 'logo' on top gave me quite a thrill :)

I wish I still had the the most complete RPG game I programmed. Unfortunately I erased it a long time ago. My Mom had an issue with RPG games and at the time I was still young enough to be scared of her finding it!

Oh, well. It was only a few (heh) hours of my life.

Btw, Phiberop, my Commodore was better than your Commodore! :P

I think there was a story about how the 2600 was pulled (literally) from the trash bin. Quite interesting reading (ok, for geeks who had one like myself). At the time, *everyone* had a 2600. I can't think of one kid on my block that didn't.

And I had one of those VIC-20's too, upgraded to the c_64 which kicked donkey. Something didn't work on the one we had, but I belive my father still has at least two C-64's and at least three of those rather large and heavy disk drives in the basement. Something doesn't work, but I know there are tons of games and errrr.. other stuff.

Hey...You can send me the "other stuff":)

LOL

I'd send you the whole damn thing, except I live in CA, and the stuff is in CT. Going to CT in June, however I'm NOT going to be dragging those 50 lb. 5 1/4 drives with me back on the plane. If you live in the CT area, I'm sure me pops will let you pick it up :)
