I am looking for a new host because of too many email problems with my old host (i'm bouncing tons of mail, can't send mail often)

I am interested in the following hosts: site5.com, wizardshosting.com, liquidweb.com if anyone could tell me which is best, or which to steer clear from?

also, e-webhosts.net "ultra-x" plan looks good.. but maybe too good to be true? plus i'm a little wary of the "today's special" thing that is acutally there everyday with a new date. i mean, if a host is good, why advertise like that?

or if someone could recommend another that has a hosting plan around $20/m that has 300+ MB and offers many subdomains and ftp user accounts. I'm also looking for a UNIX host.

basically i'm concerned about the email servers, because i do use my email a lot, and it ticks me off to no end when i can't send or recieve my email.

sorry for the long post.. it's just that this will be my 3rd host, and hopefully my last, i'm sick of changing them.

thanks so much,
dani

Hello,

If you do a search for the hosts you have listed you will turn up results. I have heard good things about all three mentioned (site5, Wizardsshosting and liquidweb). Only complaint is it seems Liquidweb's support has been getting some complaints about slower support answers. But overall, they are all great hosts.

Regards,

Mike

[b]<<Admin edit: post deleted for breaching forum guidelines (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/index.php?action=forum-rules).

Gary... Welcome to the forum (from a fellow Aussie). You will have to rely on other members to recommend you, so please read the guidelines (above) carefully (as well as observing the 4-line signature limit). Please see my post below.

Thanks.>>

Hmm, perhaps you should have emailed him about this instead. I might suggest a glance at the Forum Rules (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/index.php?action=forum-rules)

A "wanted" forum wouldn't go astray. Either that or posters who ask "can you recommend someone" should be directed to the advertising forum.

And I would consider emailing someone personally quite rude, when they have posted to a public discussion forum, unless they ask for emailed responses

Cheers

I don't mean to sound rude or anything, I just appreciate the time and efforts the moderators and Matt have put in to make these forums what they are. Since they spend all this time, the rules they set deserve some respect and should be read, so I will post parts here.

1. Advertisements and self-promotions are not allowed in any shape or form! (except in the Advertisement Forum).

3. You are allowed to post replies if people ask questions but you must answer the question and not just provide a URL,e-mail,telephone to your web site or reference your own company at all.

4. You can post replies to requests for general information or for those that are looking for a web hosts but not in a way that promotes your own company.

And, since Im a snoopy person...

8. Everyone is allowed 4 lines maximum for their signature - this is to ensure that no 'sneaky' advertising can take place, while ensuring everyone still has enough room to list vital contact details of themselves. The 4-line maximum is standard across other forums and Usenet groups on the Internet.

Regards,

Mike

Oh, and the emailing part... when you register, you can enable the option so hosts can email you.

Gary,

That's essentially what this forum is for. However, in the interests of a fair playing field for all hosts and members alike, as well as avoiding spam, you may not post your own plans or advertisements except where specified (read : the Ad forum), and you will have to rely on other forum members who may have used you as a host, to recommend you.

As for the 'Wanted' forum... That's what the Ad forum is.

Tough, but fair.

BC, I've struck up a new thread on the point of a "wanted" forum. I don't believe an advertising forum serves the same purpose (otherwise nobody wuold be posting requirements to General). Let's see if there's a wide enough interest in it.

In the near future, I will probably clean this thread of the tangents, but will leave this for 24 hours or so.

As highlighted in the quote above, Dani is looking for information on the following hosts: site5.com, wizardshosting.com, liquidweb.com, e-webhosts.net or "if someone could recommend another" and to me, this doesn't mean refering them to the Advertsing Forum.

Note that you are welcome to do so, (not to a post *you* made specifically), if you think that you've seen some recent offers that might fit the bill.

I'd agree with you on one point though. Email *would* be out of place in this case, since the poster is looking for feedback on specific hosts, or a recommendation. To me, this doesn't read, "Send me email about your company!"

I have never found a 'recommendation' of one's own company to be much of a valid recommedation, eh?

Again, apologize to Dani, this thread will be cleaned soon and be put back on track.

Dani,

I don't know much about liquidweb.com but I see Matt from Site5, and Carlos from WizardsHosting post to this board all the time, both are excellent, and helpful. The only thing I would be worried about is that Wizards is a VDI host, and VDI has been having a run of bad luck when it comes to connectivity over the last month.

Overall though, I don't think you can wrong with either host.
