Guys I have managed to convince the boss to give a special offer to all at WHT on our new Sun Servers. Right now we have just setup our first two Sun servers (with plenty of backup parts) and hope to have 8 running by 2002.

These accounts will be high availability and will allow up to 10 domains per account. The primary server will be a Sun Enterprize 5500, and the dB server will be a Sun Enterprize 6500. Those familiar with Sun Servers know they are pure muscle!

At any rate here is the package I have managed to get clearance to offer:

3 Gigs Storage – Web Server
1.5 Gig Storage – db Server
50 Gigs Transfer
$50.00 / Mth, $25 Setup.

Additional Transfer $1.25/Gig 10 gig increments
Additional Space $2.50/100 Megs
Additional Domains $2.5/Domain

All servers are hosted in the AboveNet California NOC, and feature redundant power, connectivity, and hardware to eliminate downtime.

To order this package click on the link below. This offer is for a limited time and is only available to the first 5 people whom signup for this offer. After that the price will return to normal (this package is 75% off normal rates).

Hah!

You know there are a few companies out there like http://www.pwebtech.com and http://www.communitech.net who actually do use Sun hardware for shared hosting. I can't imagine... $30k/server (enterprise 250's that is). They seem like great systems though!

Regards,
Matt

Actually one of the companies I sub-contract to for development contracts runs Sun hardware for precisely this purpose - basically they run the standard Apache/MySQL/PHP setup on the Sun box, and performance/stability is great... I look forward to using it whenever I do some more advanced PHP projects ;)
