Has anyone ever screwed up a RaQ 4i so bad that it won't start again just by installing some software on it?
Also, can I install any x86 linux app and be sure that it won't screw up something on the RaQ? Note that I am talking about a 4i which should have an Intel compatible processor inside. Thank you all.

Hello,
Although you *can* install most x86 linux programs on your RaQ you can't be sure that one won't screw it up. RaQ's are very picky when it comes to install additional software so you need to be very cautious. It's not a bad idea to search these boards here to see if anybody has tried a certain program or to search the cobalt user group archives. Odds are you will find somebody who has made an attempt. As far as screwing it up to the point that it will not start, you can but it's not as common as some other problems. If you install a firewall of some sorts and block out the wrong ports you might lock yourself out of the RaQ. The most common problems you will run into are Control Panel problems... if there is a way for the control panel to mess up it will :)

Mike
