View Full Version : !!!FRUSTRATED RESELLER!!!
faesi 04-01-2001, 12:12 PM hello to all of you out there in the big world
I am currently active as reseller with a company I don't want to mention again....sorry for that
I am now looking around for other possiblities to continue my business with another partner and so I also found VO.
Due to the fact that my old partner is also on VDI-Servers this could be an interesting way to offer the same tools in the future as we have it today.....
Before I start another adventure I thought it could be a good idea to communicate via this forum and ask you all about your experiences with VO (or maybe with other partners).
- How is the support from VO?
- How many accounts do they put on a single server?
- What about the performance?
- Lot of networkproblems?
- Can you customize your CPANEL or not?
- Would you prefere a dedicated server (or if you would with how many accounts do you think it is better to have a dedicated server)
- I already made some experiences as reseller but I am really not sure what I have to expect when I would have my dedicated server....maybe there would be a lot of technical problems that I never could solve ??
many thanks for your frank feedback in advance
faesi
faesi 04-01-2001, 12:21 PM have forgotten to mention that because I already posted this thread in their own forum :)
DigitalXWeb 04-01-2001, 02:39 PM I would recommend doing a search on them here. I recall reading a few good things and bad a little while ago. You can make your own decisions though. I have no experience with them so I cannot comment.
Good luck!

baileysemt123 04-01-2001, 04:43 PM I'm not sure what Digital is referring to, unless maybe the now-deleted TimG. fiasco... ?
I'm with Ventures Online and am VERY happy. I've been with many hosts and VO is by far the finest group of people I've worked with.
To answer your questions:
1. Support = outstanding. My issues have always been resolved in <10 minutes and I have heard no longer than 2 hours for response/solution. The tech support team is really on top of things. They also have a vB forum section where customers come together to help each other. This is a REALLY cool feature. :) I have had a lot of questions answered and I was glad I didn't have to bug Dan, Paul & Chuck with my simple questions.
2. Number of clients> I believe that Dan said 300-500 at some time here on WHT, but I know they're monitoring server load VERY carefully and they do not overload the servers. As a reseller you'll have access to Web Host Manager so you can monitor server load yourself. I've been really, really pleased thus far.
3. Performance> rocks. Server performance is great. Just completed some software upgrades. They REALLY stay on top of things.
4. VDI has had some recent problems but William at VDI is on top of it and in fact the NOC received some new hardware yesterday to improve performance. More upgrades are planned through the next six weeks. Searching here on the board should explain what's going on with VDI. Even with the burps I have been pleased with the performance. :) And they've really been nothing more than burps, and a $250K upgrade is in the works. Really, I much prefer a network that acknowledges and works on problems as opposed to these slimy hosts who insist nothing is wrong.
5. Yes you can customize cpanel: one-time $50 fee.
The last two would need to be answered by dedicated server clients. I am a reseller too and very happy with the service, where I'm at.
I really don't think you can go wrong with VO. I am so glad to have finally found a reliable company that actually GIVES A HOOT about their customers.

DigitalXWeb 04-01-2001, 11:49 PM Bailey,
I am not positive if that was the thread or not. It might have been because I cant seem to locate it any longer. Like I stated I have no experience with them so I can only suggest what is written by others who have or are currently using them..

faesi 04-02-2001, 02:59 AM ....I am also with VO now :)) and I must tell you that I am already impressed ....
the fastest reaction I ever had....they answered all my question very carefully and detailed...they set me up in no time and did everything a asked them absolutely perfect :))
If it will be like that in the future I will be more than happy because I had such a bad time the last few weeks ..
great!!!!
Their support is great and they are very friendly...now I just hope they set my new server up soon :)
nachopo 04-02-2001, 12:18 PM sirs,
one package of VO don't have dedicated IP. How it will impact to my customers ? it's important to have one ?
regards
Static IP's arnt that important especially on small packages. VenturesOnline is great, I resold from them and recently got a dedicated server with them. I can also recommend HostMatters.com for reselling since dealing with them has always been a pleasure. :)

GordonH 04-03-2001, 06:38 AM Hello
Dedicated IP's are not necessary at all, except with some FTP servers for anonymous FTP also sometimes secure certificates require them.
We have stopped supplying uniqu IP's to our bulk resellers (they can get them at cost price if they need them) and so far there have been no problems.
Actually, if you live in Europe and your IP's come from RIPE you are not permitted to use unique Ip addressing for virtual hosts.
ARIN tried to do this as well last year, but they backed down.
I think the writing is on the wall for unique IP addressing.

faesi 04-06-2001, 08:42 AM As you know I am now with VO and hope to be more happy in the future than I was in the past :)
If you know the company I used to be reseller or a similar one you maybe had similar experiences.....
- I paied in advance for many accounts to push down the price
- Because there were so many problems now we decided to go away and move all our clients to VO
- I asked for a refund and suggested to pay back at least the ammount for the never used (but paied) accounts
- The told me that I should read their terms of service (which are not mention on the website or when you sign-up as reseller :D )
Here is what they mention about refund for resellers.....
"Reseller purchases are considered final, and no refunds will be given on ANY Reseller purchase. If a Reseller attempts to refund a charge IN ANY WAY, Reseller will be in BREACH OF CONTRACT, and will be subject to a fine not to exceed $10,000.00, suspension of any and all products, services, and accounts, and permanent account termination as well as any legal ramifications for breach of contract. "
THEY ARE CRAZY!!! This cannot be legal - is it?
I had communication via email and wrote them that we decided to move and that they please should refund....I wonder what will happen.....
Ybandy 04-07-2001, 03:32 PM Make sure you do your research from all angles. Boards like this are extremely helpfull but most important check to see if this company is a member of the Better Business Bureaux and what their record with the BBB is. Good Luck
