Ok,
It's been a long time... I've looked and weighed the opinions. After six months and close to 1000 posts I've pretty much narrowed a dedicated option down to two providers. can-host and dtwebworks. Talk about research huh? :)
I know dtwebworks gets a thumbs up from most people (bar a few bumps here and there), but it'd be nice to here from Felix's camp what their opinions are of being hosted by can-cost?
I've settled on those two for a number of reasons. Cost obviously - both are affordable and allow for quick growth if necessary. More importantly is watching and reading the posts of these two guys. Both show a high level of professionalism, and a passion for the job. Very level headed and are regular posters here.... you get the drift.
I'm especially interested in hearing about can-host, secondly dtwebworks, then anyone else after that such as Weinbar and Jay (pbwebtech) etc. VO and Burst need not apply - heard and seen plenty from them already... *rolls eyes* I know I've left a ton of you guys out that are great providers, so anyone who's got a good word to say about a 'lesser known' provider they are deleriously happy with feel free to post.
First, a little about akashik.net (for context only). We're as stable as all hell. We provide a rock solid support level that often involves ringing customers at their home if need be, even at international rates, if they require us to (at our own expense). We currently have a 100% customer retention rate - have not lost a single one in our entire operation time as either a webhost or a design team. (Did roast one spammer though) Our hosting operation is 6 months old, and our design operation is close to 5 years old now - we have clients with muliple accounts in both areas. We aim to keep things this way...
Current negotiations include a few major player 'real world' companies that may lead to an explosive amount of growth in the near term. As a result, we're aiming to be ready for the event. Boyscout motto: Be Prepared...
Now with that said, you have a good idea of our philosophy to business, and maybe even why we're attracted to both dtweb and can-host. I personally feel they reflect our own attitudes.
Ok... any takers? Opinions? yadda... :)
