what are your opinions of fastservers.net? My current providing is ripping me off bigtime. $250 and crap for bandwidth. So i need a cheaper provider for 2 co-lo boxes. are they decent or so you recommend someone else? I need cheap prices but good service too!

Hey Puter,

I've searched for about 4 weeks for a new provider, and we've decided to try FS in October. I'll post a reply once we get our 3 machines moved to HE, but I would be surprised if their service isn't top notch based on what others have posted about them :)

See the thread in the main forums about fastservers spamming people's private mail. If you want to support a spammer, that's your choice, but I wish you wouldn't.

SPAM is a fact of life. Unfortunatly. Ifthey can provide me with cheap reliably connectivity so i can actually make money instead of just breaking even. I'll put up with some porn in my inbox.

They are good,
i have a server with them , Abdul from fastservers.net has been kind enough to ask me a couple of times on IM if my server is running fine .

I have dealt with other bigger hosts too like Rackspace and catalog, but they would not do this for sure.

Though its still early days since i have got my server just a week ago i like the connectivity , Clients like the cpanel interface.

you can contact abdul@fastservers.net . Hes a nice guy.

They offer great value for money at the price they sell the servers.

Note that i have not really had a chance to see how good their technical support is so far.

Regards,

Fast servers is great, we have four machines with them, all work great, and they have some of the best, most responsive support I have ever seen.

No it's not a fact of life. Spam is a scourge on the net. :eek3:

Are you sure you aren't just paying for quality :D
What I mean to say is that lots of people see the WHT prices as the standards of the whole industry, while most offers here are from budget companies (or low price, whichever sounds nicer).
And you are asking for cheap prices and good service, but I think you should consider what is more important. After all, if you are a host yourself, you just upgrade your whole business by setting higher prices in return for better service and quality to your customer. Unless you are a price stunter yourself :D

Good luck anyhow, just wanted you to know this!

i'm paying $5 for every IP i have each month and I have 20 and my per GB trandfer is $18 per GB and my monthly package cost me $250 with only 10gb.

and the service isn't so hot.....

I had shaded hosting with them previously and was happy so i figure dtheier prices were in line wit the "local" datacenters so i went withthem. Time to move on to greener pastures and change my co-lo.

Well, in this case it is indeed better to change :D You might consider colocating in the NAC, they have really great speeds!

About the spam problem- I'm a lowely sales exec here at Fastservers but I'll try to shed some light on this. We're trying to get the "spam" under control here at the sales department. We have wonderful staff that read WHT more than the holy bible and respond to questions with, shall we say, "ad sounding" solutions? They're just excited about our services I suspect, but rest assured, they have been enlightened as to the seriousness of this and of how important the WHT community is to us. We owe you a great deal and do not wish to upset WHT members.

Cheers!

I guess I didn't post it in the main forums, as I thought, but you could've just searched for my name and fastservers. The Search button is your friend here. :)

True, but you did say the "main forums", I didn't know what to really take of that. I wasn't sure if you meant the lounge, web hosting forum, dedicated server forum? Doing a search would probably consist of a lot of reading in order for me to get to the goods and im a busy enough man as it is. So I thought I would ask. You can rest assured I will not ask the same favour in the future my friend.

umm seems like it was direct email.. and the person complaining took very proactive approach of complaining to WHT also :stickout

anyway looks like fastservers.net came to know of their 'excited' sales guys.. and things will be diminished... :)

on side note.. can't i send email to rackshack or voxtreme ;) for my webhosting offer? in which cases it'd be SPAM and which cases it'd not?

do they own thier own datacenter? It seems taht there are bunch of "datacenters" out there that just send your eqiupment off to to another location and claim they are a datacenter. My local datacenter invision here on Long Island doens't have the greatest prices but at least i can physically go to thier facility and see thier equipment and know EXACTLY where my machine is going and what kind of equipment they have.

If I am not mistaken they are in Hurricane Electric's. I have had a good two months with them so far. I have had a few support issues and have been pointed in the right direction or had the issue resolved in no time at all (the support seems to be handled by Powersurge, parent company?).
