View Full Version : Tera-Byte?
Shawn (GEcom) 03-30-2001, 09:56 PM Its Friday Night, my account has been down for over an hour along with the whole tera-byte network, and I am expecting a few hundred visitors as we are supposed to be holding an online race tonight which will determine entries for the division I run. The current problem is, these visitors need the information to join, and they cant get to my site..
Tera-Byte is down in the worst possible time. It has been down for almost an hour now. Anyone here know whats up?
Shawn (GEcom) 03-30-2001, 10:03 PM Its amazing how after I post this, it comes back up...
Shawn (GEcom) 03-30-2001, 10:08 PM Dammit!! Down again!!
tymonhall 03-30-2001, 10:09 PM TB said that it was a problem with an upstream provider. This keeps last week it was a router problem.
tymonhall 03-30-2001, 10:10 PM Its up
Shawn (GEcom) 03-30-2001, 10:10 PM WooHoo! Up again!..
I can somehow see this going on all night??
try giving it a few minutes before you start complaining. if it lasts about 2 minutes or more, then there's a problem.
Shawn (GEcom) 03-30-2001, 10:23 PM lol :) Will Do :)
The first time, it was down for an hour, so their was definately a problem ;)
Actually, the problem was on the ALTER.NET backbone; it had very little to do with Tera-Byte. In fact, it only had an effect on about 10 Mb/s of our traffic, very little in comparison to the traffic that normally flows through our network.
Shawn (GEcom) 03-30-2001, 10:47 PM CJB, how are you related to Tera-Byte?
well, ever hear of ********? the redirection service? they are owned by tera-byte and i guess either he named himself after it or they named it after him. anyway, he is from TB if you're wondering. just head over to their forums and you can see.
syanet 03-30-2001, 11:04 PM I think TB seriously needs to get a new backbone connection. They suffer more downtime then any host I know.
Shawn (GEcom) 03-30-2001, 11:14 PM Can you post a link to the TB Forums?
Shawn (GEcom) 03-31-2001, 12:52 AM Thanks

Pardon? Tera-Byte has numerous backbone connections. This outage wasn't on our end, it was between backbones. From what I heard, it mainly affected people on @Home.
Shawn (GEcom) 03-31-2001, 03:43 AM Yup, that would explain it. Im on @home.
-Edward- 03-31-2001, 11:24 AM Well i've not noticed much slowness infact since you lot of all been complaining my connection has been faster than it has ever been.
