This is just a curious question I had. I have seen in several spots that Matt owned it.
When was WHT started? When did RS acquire it?

Yeah, MattF was the original owner. He was the one that started it. I'd say that Rackshack has owned WHT for about 1/2-1 year now. You can probably find the mile long thread by searching. That was a very long thread that day.

I was not around then, I am fairly new compared to these oldies here.

I believe MAtt sold it to RS because it was costing him too much. :cool:

Kinda....you see more ads in the Advertising forums that are IMPORTANT and things like that, but I don't think anything on the overall forum has changed any. That day was kinda weird for a lot of people because of the feeling of an unbiased place being owned by a hosting company itself.

Read the thread.....thats the ENTIRE thing....

Actually it didn't cost matt anything as the servers were sponsored by voxel and wizards. Matt had some debt that he had accumulated and he wanted to pay it off, thus the sale.

I believe rackshack took over in 2002, I remember reading the thread, maybe it was april? Not really sure!

April is correct.

MattF sold it and then opened his own hosting business - Spenix.com. Hope he gets a good price on the ads here. ;) :D

I feel that RS has done a good job of keeping things unbiased here, what does everyone else think?

with a couple of minor glitches here and there, i think everything is turning out pretty good...

...the ads have gotten a lot smaller, so i'm not complaining too much anymore :D

Nothing has changed for the worst. The sky didn't fall. We all survived. Folks who went to setup their own hosting forums are still getting the usual 1 post per day into their forums....:D

If this is true, i can say for one i wont be ever posting here again and i know alot of other people who post here on a regular basis wont post here either. This forum would slowly die out if all the regular posters never came back.
