Now this kind of sounds like a joke when you start reading it, but it's the actual transcript from a friend of mine about an hour or so ago, trying to get an answer or two from Microsoft's online tech support. I've dealt with this system before so I feel his pain...

> MSN Interactive Online technical Support is a real-time service available
to MSN Internet Access customers and MSN Explorer users. MSN Technical
Support Engineers will assist you with your Technical Support issues in real
time, without disconnecting your computer.

>
> Question: I am not receiving any email.
>
> An MSN Technical Support Engineer will be with you in a moment.
>
> Tracy: Hello *friend*, welcome to MSN Interactive Online Technical Support. I
am Tracy, your online live Microsoft Technical Support Engineer.

> *friend* Hi Tracy
>
> Tracy: Hi *friend*, can you please elaborate more on the issue you are
facing?
>
> *friend*: Sure. I went on line and there are no messages coming in.
Since I sent myself a copy of a contract form home last night, I know that
there is at least one out there. I clicked on the link provided for Outlook
Express on the support page, followed all of the instructions and still no
email.
>
> Tracy: Please do tell me the error message that you receive.
>
> *friend*: I dopn't receive any error message. It goes through the
usual - Authenticating, etc. - and comes back with nothing.

> *friend*: No
>
> Tracy: Since when are you facing this issue?

before dialing you up.

Kunal,

exactly. I had to deal with those clowns once helping someone out. Sat there for an hour asking my questions over and over, getting the same 'canned' responses. Finally I was told "Come back when you have a better idea of what the problem is", and got 'hung up' on... I was angry enough to want to take a trip up to Redmond and tear someone a new one.... anyone... :)

Actually, if it was Outlook express, then Technichally Microsoft does'nt proevide support for it. They dont offe tech support for free programs, only the paid one's.

from the little i see in the transcript, she should have called her ISP. It looks like:

1) the mail is configured incorrectly,

or

2) The mail server is not updating regularily.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

You just made a serious mistake. Akashik has a young daughter and a wife, meaning Asashik is a HE. ;)

Actually I think he was refering to my friend (who is a guy too btw)... The only girl in the picture was tech support at MS :) But I get the idea.

Actually MS Outlook is working fine for him whenever he contacts any other mail server, and was working with that account the day before. The account that isn't working is his MSN dialup account, hence the call to tech *support*. There's been a few occassions where this had happened. Usually he just gets an email reply saying "We're aware of the problem" and that's it. I suggested the obvious, that he change ISP's but his boss wants to keep the same email address (the ISP one)...

Now the Light comes on.
He did contact his ISP.
From the thread, it looked like he was contacting Microsoft Techsupport, not Microsoft Network Techs support....

I think I'll go back to bed now........ZZZZZZZZZ

Hmm, this thread makes a certain program come to mind...

Microsoft Works....

But does it?

Now we're getting into redundant terms...

Military intelligence
etc....

Nice link, I think Im going to download that and give it a shot. I really like the PDF add-on they have and the Barcode add-on. You pretty happy with the suite?

Mike

couldn't be happier with it. I had Star Office for a while but hated it. It seemed a little too intent on taking over my desktop - not the best in terms of navigating around either. 602's a nice looking program, and runs pretty much like MS does in terms of using it. Intergrates well with Outlook Express etc. Lets you import from a digital camera, scanner as well. Export as .pdf

Not much it won't do. I got pretty excited when I came across it a while ago :) I *was* just looking for a freebie word processor
