Travis this is for you :D.
Check out http://www.qwkmon.com they have a really good monitoring system.
-Edward- 03-30-2001, 11:06 AM Why not send them an email to find out whats wrong?
But they did say something a while ago in thir forums later this month or at somepoint they would be doing work on their lines and having more put in. If this is the case theres nothing to worry about since it is work to improve the already excellent service they provide.
dutchie 03-30-2001, 03:44 PM you're right, i just did :)
Chicken 03-30-2001, 09:05 PM I can't get my server either. I can trace it fine, but otherwise, nothing. Other people can reach it though.
akashik 03-31-2001, 12:32 AM Chicken,
I think it's wider than people think. Yesterday I got an email from a host asking if I could see their site. I could even though they couldn't. Then the day before my finacee couldn't see akashik.net though I could see that fine too. It seems to be a very short term thing but the net over there in the states has been acting up a *lot* these past few weeks. The rest of the world seems to be running fine out here *lol*
I think y'all need to go culling hillbillies - they're digging through lines making their outhouses come the warmer weather. :)

dutchie 03-31-2001, 02:56 AM here's the 4webspace reply (quick as always :) ).
Our web site has not been offline.
Did you run traceroutesto your server and our site to see if it was at our
end or With your ISP?
We would need to know which is your server to tell you if your server has
been offline or not.
Chicken 03-31-2001, 03:42 AM No, your server is up, at least if you are having the same problems many are having. It is the path from you to the server somewhere. Hard to tell for me since the PacBell DSL is often slow/buggy and I always think this site is slow but people tell me it is fine. Bahhhhhh!
*gets offline to read a book*
dutchie 04-02-2001, 02:36 AM and again, but this time i can show its not my provider :)
Server http://www.123xs.com failed to respond properly!
HTTP did not respond.

Phiberop 04-02-2001, 02:44 AM Im not able to access that domain or 4webspace.com on my Roadrunner cable nor from my server. I've been having problems like this throughout the net world as well, generally seeming to be only several minutes. Who knows, maybe there is a cult of anti-net people out there who are trying to bring us all down! :)
Regards,
Mike
dutchie 04-02-2001, 02:52 AM Our firewall is rebooting. Your server will be avaliable shortly.
Thanks, Brenda
I don't know if the rebooting is the cause or if the firewall was brought down.
Just to make sure i asked them not to reboot again :)
Hehe. How often does a firewall need to reboot anyway?
BTW, does 4webspace actually give you free firewalling service? It would be interesting to know what kind of access policies that have - what they allow/deny/log, etc.
We already know that they deny most of the raqs domain service :)

It appears that they block outbound NTP requests. You can use the TB NTP server, though, so it's not a big deal.
