I know there has been some discussion of affiliate programs here (commission junction, etc.). I think that a simple click-thru tracking script would work best for us at this time. Anybody have any experience with what's available out there?

You might look at groundbreak.com They have a pretty powerful script available. I have an issue with their support though - very slow to a point at which they often just don't reply. For the price they (he) need to be a lot better.
