It's estimated that 60% of users leave PCs switched on all night but with my solution you can simply decide on a time that you want ALL un-used PCs switched off, Automatically! It couldn't be any easier.
Leaving PCs switched on costs you and the environment.
Even a modern PC uses over 100.00$ in electricity left on every night of the year. Multiply that by your PC population and you're talking a lot of money.
It's simple, easily used network interface for your Power Management Options, letting you control with ease and from the comfort of your desk the power settings on your networked or standalone PCs.
You simply create a power profile deciding on your power settings, choosing when to implement power savings and to what degree.
For instance you may decide to power down monitors after 15 minutes and hard drives after 20 minutes and put the PC in standby or hibernate after 45 minutes. You can have different profiles for different PCs.
As a failsafe, you can simply decide to automatically power down all unused PCs at a certain time of day.
You can easily exclude essential PCs like servers so these are not affected and users can easily select to be excluded if they are working late. In any event it will only shutdown PCs that have not been used for a predefined period of time.
Once your profiles are created you simply deploy them via the software central console to your networked PCs and your settings take effect after the next logon.
PowerOut can bypass device drivers that mistakenly make Windows think it's busy when it's not and force a PC into standby or off.
The software reports on PC Shutdown activity so you can calculate your savings over a period of time.
Shutting down your PCs automatically can immediately:-
Save up 100$ per PC per year by not wasting electricity
Reduce security risks from outsiders accessing PCs left on
Prevent excessive wear and tear to equipment
Reduce fire and other health risks
Reduce the effect on heating or climate control devices
Show your green credentials
Help the environment
Within minutes of installing, you will have an effective Power Management policy in place and will be saving your organization a huge amount of money.
With our unique low cost site and multi site licenses it's impossible to lose.
On average you need to shut down just 4 PCs to repay your outlay but with the average user not interested in turning off - you will save much more than that, over and over again.
This solution is used by thousands of companies and saves millions in electricity charges and you're only a couple of clicks away from saving too!

I have a very simple way that works for me and its free, how about using the shutdown command at the MS DOS command prompt in a scheduled enviroment, for example: (open up notepad AND COPY AND PASTE THE FOLLOWING)
SHUTDOWN -S -T 60 -C "SHUTTING DOWN THIS PC IN 60 SECONDS TO END THE DAY OF WORK. IF YOU ARE WORKING ON THIS PC AND NEED MORE TIME CLICK ON START THEN CLICK ON RUN AND TYPE THE FOLLOWING: SHUTDOWN -A TO ABORT SHUTDOWN, MAKE SURE TO SHUTDOWN THIS PC AFTER YOU ARE DONE THEN"
saving that file as in shutdown.bat (make sure to switch to "all files" first in the button box)
then creating a SCHEDULE (start>control panel>schedule) and setting a daily schedule to run that script you just created at, perhaps, every 6:30PM (if you close your business at 5PM every day).

This works perfect for me.

The difference is you can manage all schedule from one remote computer, see how much energy (average) you save, how much carbon you save (average) and the shutdown process doesn't start if somebody is on the computer :) More easy and more safe for your work :)

It's my two cents :)
