What do you think? I don't think Yahoo would rip off people.

I don't think Dell would either, yet Dellhost has been less than exemplary as a host in many respects. Yahoo has yet to make a profit, which no doubt accounts for such changes as now charging $199 to list businesses in their directory. Like dell, they are probably trying to use their name as leverage to make a profit from hosting. Like Dell, they are probably outsourcing it to someone. Using Cobalt RAQ servers means they have few technical support issues as Cobalt would be responsible for most of them.

However, as we've seen with Dellhost and Interliant, a good name and reputation in one field do not ensure the very best of service in another.

I believe this service was added when Yahoo purchased Simplenet.
Though, i'm sure I could be wrong. ;)

Yeah, it was added when they bought SimpleNet.

Was SimpleNet bad?

I was unaware that Yahoo had purchased Simplenet. They are featuring Cobalt RAQ servers, though they do offer others, albeit at far higher prices than available through many reputable hosts. They also offer other services like domain registrations at $35 each. I guess they figure their name might help some people overpay there also.
