View Full Version : My Problem at AWH, any solution?

Hello,

After Ronnie moved to the new server last month, things seemed to be shaky but fast. But since yesterday my site is not accessible if you go with the WWW inside it. If you just type the domain name without WWW, it works.

Any idea what the problem might be ? Ronnie says the configuration seems to be fine on the server level.

my site has been technically down since yesterday (this problem above)

any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

<edit> The problems have been solved <edit>

Have ronnie check your DNS/zone file settings one more time....

if you are the only one that's having problems...it could be your specific settigns...

Hello,

We had same case with a client. However after a while he found that only with his ISP he is having this problem.

So, it might be whether your ISP/Proxy server, if everything is fine at server's end.

Headmaster you might be right too.

I wonder why do very few visitors can view the site and majority cannot. AOL people cannot come in if they use explorer . but if they use aol browser they can but wth some problems.

My closest friend can come in from his university but not from home.

Somewhere there is a problem ! Ronnie says all configuration at server end seems fine

Please PM me your domain name and I will look at it and see if I can come up with a recommendation for you to make to your host.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

I have double-checked, and triple-checked DNS and apache config, and it seems 5-10 sites still have difficulty visiting with the "www." These are sites that have worked fine at one time, and I have confirmed their DNS name server info is accurate (and its been over 72 hours since they changed DNS) checked from other PCs, anonymizer.com, checked apache config and nslookup 'd against dns1.alwayswebhosting.com and it answers properly for their domain with and without www. I hate to say I'm stumped, but it is looking like it.

Thanks Dan,

www.americandesiz.com resolves to .148, americandesiz.com resolves to 147.
that is actually the correct DNS resolution for our server farm configuration. Any other ideas? :D

www doesn't point to the same location as the regular domain. That is a very interesting configuration.

Especially since, it appears that they are different servers according to the apache headers.

They are different servers via our load-balanced configuration... Interesting, yes! :D

I can't get www.americandesiz.com to resolve, but I can get americandesiz.com to resolve to .147 just fine. I'm on ATT cable right now.

I couldn't get www to resolve using peak-10 nameservers either, but the non-www (just the domain) resolves just fine.

I have the same problem with the www on http://hoopsavenue.com

It seems I can access it with www, but only about 1/10 of my visitors can. I think AWH is a great host, but this is troublesome. ...hopefully it'll get worked out.

is there any hope for me with AWH ?

how about switching my folder from one server to another where the sites work good ?

I know this error is weird..

americandesiz.com uses godaddy (nameservers ok)
hoopsavenue.com uses dotster (nameservers ok)

DNS files and cache has been checked by Ronnie, data center people and other consultants. The fact that viewers can reach site using www 1 out of 10 times is troublesome. I wonder which part of the world, and what the trace routes are. There may be a large ISP out there that has not flushed and updated DNS for traffic to route through. The other issue may be the routing of the data center vs other carriers at exchange points.

Another thought is to check your domain managers and reinput the nameservers and click OK to see if tries to re-engage. Also check to see if there are no forwards for www or mail.

Another thing that Ronnie can check is the format of the zone edit file. There was an issue with WebHostingManager setting up zone edit files with tabs vs spaces, and that may create an issue with some ISP using the new Bind. Also, he can do another update of WHM / CPanel5 build 1XX whatever it is for that particular hour.

If things don't clear up after that, I suggest those with this issue might move on to another web host.

I dont have any mail forwarders.

and I will go ahead and act upon your advise by entering the name-servers again.

I can not resolve www.americandesiz.com, I tried from 3 diferent locations (Colorado, Florida and Argentina).

May I ask why www.americandesiz.com and americandesiz.com are using in differents IPs?

alwaysweb

Hi Jedito, in our Cpanel server farm (http://forums.alwayswebhosting.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=638) domain.com resolves to the master cpanel server (so domain.com/cgi-sys/... etc works) and www.domain.com is load-balanced across three additional web servers. I am completing the update of Cpanel to the latest version, we'll see if that helps at all. And will remove and re-create the DNS zone file by hand again afterwards.

Its bizarre that with nearly **2000 domains** on the server farm, there are 5-10 domains that for some reason or another fail to resolve the "www." domain name. I have quadruple-checked everything, and can't seem to isolate geographic areas, ISPs, or other issues that may explain this fluke.

AmericanDesiz: I sincerely feel bad about the way your site has been operating on our servers. If the re-updating of your DNS info doesn't solve it, it may be a better idea to hand you off to another of the wonderful hosts here on WHT to get you up and running smoothly.

Ronnie.. not to impose anything... however, why don't you try the Fled Frinstone approach and back everything up, wipe out the account (period) and reinstall the account. This is an automatic flush of the DNS and restoration may be a pain, but it's better than the user having to do it with another host? You should not have to lose a client because of this!!! :D And Ronnie if that doesn't work, then you can whack me over the head with a log. ;)

And hey.. Ronnie is doing a great job on this.. he's honest and really trying. AD, thanks for being so understanding!

I think Ronnie backed-up and recreated the sites already. DNS was flushed.

Guys, please deal with us (AWH) directly instead of posting here. WHT isn't an AWH support forum, and we don't want to step on any toes. I'm putting the fix into place again, and can answer your questions privately via our own help desk.

Thanks.
