i got the below email from my RaQ4 yesterday. does anyone know what this means or how to fix the problem?

is getting very close to full. This is very dangerous for the server
and can cause unexpected errors to occur. You either need to move some
files to another storage device and delete them from the Cobalt server
or delete them altogether. Consult the documentation for help adding
storage to your Cobalt server.

Total disk space: 725.95 MB
Free disk space: 49.56 MB
Percent Used: 93 %

Yes thats your root partition, depending on how your filesystems set up you may be able to move files around to fee up space. If you dont do this your going to have huge problems.

move everything into /home and make symbolic links from there

don't move /bin /lib /sbin (and maybe etc) or you may have problems booting.

Warning:
on a cobalt raq be careful what you move!
the admserv stuff in the / partition will make root grow quite fast but you cant move that it will break your raq.
normally it isnt to bad unless you have a lot of domains or users on the raq, i have seen it grow quite large for some other reason though (im not aware of the cause yet) your best bet is to look for things in the tmp dir and other non-vital stuff

I had exactly the same problem. My / partition was at 96% increasing Everyday over 25 mb's.

I moved MYSQL databases to home and made simbolyc links. It changed nothing... Still growing everyday.

I discovered that the files growing were in /usr/admserv/html/.cobalt/reports

I just moved this reports dir to /home (there were over 200 mb's !!!) and now they grow in this partition.

The system partition has not increased anymore ( 62% full :) )

I don't know when this started to happen.... Maybe after some security update ? don't know ...

Yes, I found that dir, too.

There are 3 big files over there:

-rw------- 1 root root 46929207 Jun 16 05:56 web.cache
-rw------- 1 root root 48774565 Jun 17 05:10 web.cache.new
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 31644668 Jun 17 05:11 web.stats

Just don't know if it's safe to move that report dir to somewhere else like /home/report.

jaime,

Thanks for your input. It seems safe to do this. :)

As I said, I moved and created simbolyc links for the whole /reports dir to /home/reports and all works perfectly with any doubt.

I did that 2 days before and the files are increasing in /home/reports and al is OK.;)

I am not an expert and I would like that an advanced Raq user could give us his opinion and a way to inhabilitate those files. I think that I do not need those files for anything because I do not use them.

I do not need any cobalt admin panel report because I am using Webalizer, and If I'm right, this script only needs the Apache logs to work.

I guess the easiest way is to open your RaQ, take that harddisk out and connect it as a slave drive to your PC, run PowerQuest Partition Magic 6 and resize the partitions.

Just my 2 cent... ;)

I've just tryed finding these reports but they must be else where on a cobalt RAQ3. Any ideas as to where? ive been through the locate procedure but i didnt see them appear.

Hve you tried to:

cd /usr/admserv/html/.cobalt/reports

I also could not find them in my raq3 via Locate, but sure they are there.

I am waiting for someone to explain me what to do with those files, how to stop them. Now They are eating my /home volume space. Look at this:

-rw------- 1 root root 267450024 Jul 8 04:42 web.cache
-rw------- 1 root root 274475195 Jul 9 04:34 web.cache.new
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35836368 Jul 9 04:36 web.stats

577 mb's of reports.... and think that this files are located in raq3 by default in the system partition.

Any expert can give us his opinion??

There is another directory "/usr/admserv/html/.cobalt/siteManage".
They grow everyday and everytime that I add more domain.

Can I move this directory to "home" as well?

Is it safe to delete all the files in /usr/admserv/html/.cobalt/report ???

You can delete them, but they will be regenerated when cron.daily runs.

Just delete or reset them when they are growing too much.

I deleted: web.cache, web.cache.new and web.stats

This was two weeks ago and all is working perfectly.

About the other directory /usr/admserv/html/.cobalt/siteManage,... mine is not growing. There's just a list of the sites on the raq.
