Im in australia, land of expensive internet. coight 09-22-2002, 02:45 AM Don't bother, monthly fee + 20 something cents per minute. Here in Canada I pay $8/month CAD (~ $5 USD) for the number itself and then I get my services from another carrier of long distance who charges me less than the large one who sells me the 800 number itself. All an 800 number is is a link to an existing phone number that charges to a different bill, it can be set up to charge to a different carrier as well. pokerstore 09-22-2002, 07:18 PM Here is something you can do..depending on your business needs. Get a BlackBerry: www.blackberry.net if you have an MS exchange server, it integrates seemlessly with you@yourdomain.com email address...people can't tell if you're sending from your desktop or your blackberry! It allows me to answer customers in just minutes... Even better for a toll free number I have the Itrezzo service: www.itrezzo.com It provides a toll free number which i can forward to any destination I choose in North America, you can also send and receive faxes because it's a 3rd party service made for the Blackberry. Cheers, Neil Owner *edit* oops. I just noticed you are in Australia...I dont think the service is available there :( slade 09-22-2002, 07:43 PM You should not pay any monthly fee for your 8XX number. Unless you just like supporting your local utility. When was the last time they were nice to you? (pause... didn't think so) I think even Cognigen (not sure of spelling) who makes money as an affiliate MLM-type site has a good list of toll free providers. Benjamin 09-22-2002, 07:47 PM I always say to myself that I should order computer software and products, etc from Canada or Australia because of the currency difference (exchange difference). Simply use your credit card (no checks), although I'm sure the shipping makes up for it. (Sorry, that was kinda unrelated.)
