Hello,
What do you mean by invalid whois? They have contact us page, so write them about your problem

I think he means somebody who has provided incorrect contact details.

How do you know if the whois is incorrect?

Actually it's none of your business and I don't think you should report it.
Putting in false info may not legally entitle you to a domain, but telling on people just to create trouble is evil and not necessary..

It isn't evil at all. they should be treated like all of the rest of the domain owners, it's a requirement, now a days to have up to date and correct whois info.
instead of having email address and addresses showing as na or na@na.na it's annoying.

All domain owners should have valid credentials on record. If they wish to protect their identity, they should use services like whoisguard, so that contact can still be made with the owner of the domain without revealing his/her identity.

But you clearly have an alternative motive for reporting it, which makes it a bit rude.
If we needed a whois police to check on everyones domain whois we would probably hire one.

Why would that be annoying to *you*? By all evidence they don't want folks like *you* contacting them, which is why they have it set thusly to begin with.

I dont term that as being an alternative motive, unless you know him/her and its your domain of course :)

Unless he is some kind of automated whois robot I don't see how he can't have an alternative motive.
There are probably many possible reasons for wanting to report an invalid whois, but in all those cases the motive is selfish, and never altruistic.
I'm not condoning fake info, but I don't think it hurts anybody if the domain owner doesn't want to put the real info there, it seems like the OP is just doing this out of some principle thing.

Well, I must admit that I too will NOT report every faulty whois I see EXCEPT for those which come in the way of my vested interest. HOWEVER, I don't think it's therefore "evil" to report one. In a perfect world, good citizens SHOULD report wrongful acts for the common good.

There is very often a difference between the letter of the law and a "wrongful act".

Either way on this one, sounds like it would make for a very interesting blog topic for sure.

Ok fair enough.. But I think that unless the domain is being used for actual illegal stuff, let the domain owner have fake info.. I would feel bad for taking a domain away from someone who was 'innocent'.. Fake domain info only affects the domain owner, noone else -

That's exactly how I feel about it. And it's also obvious that the fellow *does* have a less than altruistic intention when he himself says simply "that's annoying". Hopefully "karma" will not let either of them down.

let the domain owner have fake info.
Which, of course, isn't allowed under the registrar's contract. However, only the registrar really gets to decide whether that info is "fake" or not.
OTOH, I sometimes find it funny when some people make invalid WHOIS reports for some domain names merely because they don't get a reply from its registrant. As if the registrant is obligated to reply back to that person.
Well, it happens.

LOL @ All the bashing.
It's wonderful to see people freely demonstrate their low level of character.
It doesn't matter why he wants to report the WHOIS,
The person decided he/she doesn't have to comply with the law,
So, he/she gets to deal with the consequences of that.
As others have said,
There are other ways to hide your identity.
Besides providing false information.

lol olivia 'the law'??
Like I have said many times already, the people who report strangers based on fake whois info are doing it out of principle, not because it actually makes any difference to anyone.
It's a big waste of everyones time, and you only end up potentially removing a domain from the hands of someone who weren't even doing anything bad with the domain to begin with.
The people who do this are usually quite stuck up to begin with anyway.
