IT Man's IPs come from one.net; Penny's from AOHell. ;)

I would also courteously remind ValuableHost that this forum (nor any others here on WHT) is not the place to comment on your competitors' prices, as you are essentially breaking Netiquette by doing so. Thank you for your co-operation in observing the forum rules (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/index.php?action=forum-rules).

Hmmm, can't you log into AOL from one.net? Especially curious is the close time of these two posts.

Some advise.

yes you all have wonderful knoweldge of computers and webhosting, which is great, but they way you treated me on this board reflects your customer service abilities. Im sure people will see that.

Maybe in the future instead of bringing down people around you...stand up and offer some of your wonderful knowledge you have.. Money can buy skills...customer service is priceless.

I've noticed that this happens alot. Someone posts an offer in this section of the board, and immediately someone posts something from the list below:

1) Your plan sucks, I can get XX for $YY cheaper at host ZZ
2) WAIT, this guy is a reseller, no one should buy from him
3) There is no way that they can offer XX at $YY price and stay in business

etc...

I think you get the idea. The value of this section of the site will quickly become NIL if this type of thing continues to happen. Sure there are some offers that are plain rediculous, but other times I think people are just trying to spread the word about their services.

We should all take a second to think whether we are just bashing someone or whether we are adding valuable information to the board.

My 2 cents of course,

Brian

Let me just express some of the concerns that the members on this board have. I do not speak for everyone, but I am sure that most will agree.

1. You just joined the board (That's great, and welcome!)

2. You just posted an advertisement on your company that nobody has ever heard of yet (Done correctly in the right forum - A++!)

3. Another new person signs up within 20 minutes of your post and comments on how your services were exactly what she was looking for, yet referring to #1, nobody has ever heard of you (at least on this board)

4. We are very skeptical on this board because there are a lot of hosts that use(d) this tactic to promote their company in ways that are not ethical. i.e. using a fictitios name to comment on how good a company is.

5. The series of events leads to 1+1=2.

I am not accusing you of anything, just pointing out that it does indeed look odd. We have been blessed by this great board, yet we do have people on here that like to undermine the nature of these posts. You took it the wrong way, and I feel bad for that, but accusing us of not having good customer service skills just makes you look bad.

Very well put WeinBar.

Yes, new people get jumped on in this particular forum because just about every type of abuse that could happen has happened.

But (and I do not mean this critically, I suggest this to anyone) if one took 15 minutes to look at the threads, they would see that if you post something that says Unlimited, or if someone post a thread to this forum right after you and you are brand new, you WILL get jumped over. There are tons and tons of threads that will show you this.

You have to "learn a board" prior to just jumping in. If you had, you would have made your post, and told her NOT to post.

I very rarely make posts and kinda lurk around abit, and see the same thing happen over and over again. :(

Couple of things here :

1. If you are a reseller, people will know. Be prepared to say yes and move on.

2. Hosts bashing other hosts on prices, however, is not tolerated and ValuableHost has already learned that (the easy way).

3. 20 mins? From a lay person's point of view it is a little bit suspicious; however it's innocent until proven guilty.

4. We welcome newbies with open arms, but be prepared to defend your prices and your plans. Web hosting is a cut-throat business and if you're not prepared to stand by your plans and defend till the death (or modify them to a more realistic extent in some cases) then I guarantee you will be shot by the other forum members.

And thank you to WeinBar for an excellent post.

My 2.2 cents for the day.
