Hi guys,
Just thought I should warn all those who want to buy servers or resellers from rdahosting.net
This guy gave me a so called alpha server master reseller with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space.
And after I paid him he said I cant upload files of any sort, even images that my html pages might require, like logo or pic of a serer or anything.
He said i cant upload more than 10mb.
Dont really know what did he really mean by saying UNLIMITED ??
I started a paypal resolution ticket with paypal concerning
the fraud that he had perpertrated, teling them how deceptive he had been.
He should have not mentioned this in TOS that we cant upload even images that would be used in my forum as images in posts or in html pages.
His TOS says that image hosting and file hosting is not allowed.
I can understand him not allowing site scripts like rapidshare.com or megauplaod or imageshack
But not letting upload images >10mb is hillarious.
And then he emails me and tells me very proudly that he has never lost a single dispute with your customers at paypal.
From your email it seems like this is a regular activity for him to get into disputes.
He should refund me the money, as technically i havent yet broken the UNWRITTEN RULES that HE has in HIS MIND and expects his client to follow them.

This is the whole problem with unlimited hosting. Unlimited Diskspace and Bandwidth does not exist, so there is a limit, you just can't see it until you hit it.

ya, I can see that now. This guy n2xxi (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=202671) cheated me. This is not right selling something which they cant provide, taking the money and then saying you cant do that.
Cant WHT do anything about it?

I am sorry to hear your problems. Hope n2xxi will be here soon to explain the other side of the story.

Can you show me anywhere if its written not to upload images (more than 10mb total size) for html pages, and the images used in [img] tags in forums?
If that's not allowed then whats allowed?

Did he mean you can't use more than 10 MB period?
Or is it you can't upload more than 10 MB in a single event?

oops it seems you have started covering your tracks n2xxi. You deleted the support ticket in which you had said funny things.
N now you deleted that support ticket?
Nevermind, I have snapshots of each n every step of interaction I had on your site or with you. I have snap shots of even your TOS, just incase you get this idea of making a cheeky change in it to proove to paypal that you were right.
I use snapshot2.0 for this, its a cool freeware. :)
Hi oliviakitty, he said that I cant use his server to store images more than 10mb. Well i have a invision forum running for 6yrs now and sql of >99mb text size, how can he expect that the signaturaes and images in avatars n images in posts can be less than 10mb.
The forum software pics, icons etc itself must be > 4mb.

I had asked you specifically about www.onlinemedicalforum.com
if that would run fine on your server and you said its all unlimited and a good server configuration.
And I trusted you. Now you say pics are not allowed.

This is what he said
we don't allow ANY file storage at all whatsoever, even if its legal.
I think html and php code pages are also files. I wont be surprised if he suspend my account saying you broke our TOS, you uploaded FILES - index.php and index.html file.

Well you should know what I mean... such as people storing LEGAL movies, rars, zips, etc. Those aren't allowed. Small image hosting could be an exception though. And of course people can store files such as scripts for their website and htmls, php, etc. I don't think you quite understood me, I thought you knew that already, but surprisingly, you didn't.

It seems the OP made it clear that the images were simply for use with his forum.
Curious people would like to know why he was prohibited from uploaded beyond 10MB.

so let me get this straight, what do you mean by UNLIMITED space and unlimited bandwidth.
If I store my files that belong to me on your server just for myself or my friend and if that requires 70gb, is that allowed?
I think now that you have given this deal, you should not turn back from your decision. You should let people who purchased under those TOS, to upload files.
I agree if there is a free for all thing - where all LEGAL files are uploaded ILLegally, then you can intervene.
It shouldnt concern you what files are being kept on your server and why till you get a comlpaint. You should not be concerned at all and should not login into their space n keep checking which file was uploaded and downloaded.
Unlimited means unlimited weather u like it or not.
I might upload a 1 terrabyte file for my own use after 40 years on your server, and that should not concern you.
You get my point?

It doesn't sound crazy at all actually. You bought an "Unlimited" plan without looking at the TOS. This is why I hate unlimited, because as stated above EVERYTHING has a limit! I also hate hosts that sell more than they have in general like 100 gigs. That's still too much. Look for moderation and you fill be a lot happier I guarentee it. Service/Quality/ect.. will be better.

See... This is the problem with unlimited hosts. The client complains and then so does the host.

Just avoid unlimited hosts in general... There is no such thing as unlimited.

hi,

that is not the problem. the problem is competence. the hosting industry is filled with people that have no clue what they are doing. there is no intuition on when to get a new server. there is no knowledge of how to secure a server. they can't even setup their website to sell the hosting. the package that they sell has nothing to do with how good or bad of a host they are. there is a few upper eschilon that do. 1/2 of a small hosts clients request forget that they are paying via subscription for a year. the fact is that most clients never use even close to what they could. there are pleny of hosts that offer large and unrealistic seeming services but there are plenty of hosts that can and do do this sucessfully.

lol whats the point of uploading php and html files then its like you selling hosting and then saying the custmer can not upload anything, 10mb is small.
