Hello,
We just upgraded a customer's server to mysql 5, and it broke their perldesk 1.5.5 installation.
For a few reasons, we can not revert back to mysql 4. And we don't have any mysql 4 servers ourselves...
Does anyone know what might be wrong? The error is very generic:
Couldn't execute statement: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'call = '5291' ORDER BY id' at line 1; stopped
PerlDesk: Script Error
Perldesk was unable to launch due to the following errors:
1 at include/staff_subs.cgi line 1401.
The customer needs to get this working asap again, so if there is anyone who might know what is wrong.. let me know.
Or.. perhaps there is some nice person out there who wants to loan me a small database (29mb) on a mysql 4 server for a few days while we get this sorted out for the customer? I can pay you.. and of course I would love you forever!! If you can help, please send me a PM.
Thanks for any help.

Sorry, I can't be much help, as I haven't had a mysql4 DB on any of my servers for a while. Have you tried contacting perldesk support? That version is REALLY old, but it might be a simple fix to get it back up at least enough to upgrade or migrate.
Good luck!

The perldesk people told me the database would need to upgrade to their lates version, which is $200, plus a custom import script that would need to be created (unknown $$).
For that much money, I'd rather move our customer to supporttrio.com or something similar.
But at the moment.. we just need to get it back up and running, so at least it is working. Then the customer can figure out how they want to proceed...
Anyone want to let me have an account their mysql 4 server just for a few days?
:)

Go grab an el cheapo VPS, and install mysql4 on it. I'm sure that any $10 VPS would do.

Yup. That's essentially what I ended up doing. Their perldesk is back up and running again. :)

I think you did well to illicit any response from Perldesk - I have tried 3 or 4 methods to no avail...
