View Full Version : PayPal Seller Reputation
NH-Nathan 02-22-2009, 03:59 PM Is anyone else's PayPal Seller Reputation stuck? I hear it's a fairly common problem. I sent them a few emails about it over the years. They more or less said that they know it's broken, and they gave the impression they're not really in a hurry to do anything about it.
I've been stuck at 50 verified buyers for about 4 years. It's really detrimental to my company's image, since we've done a considerably higher amount of business than that.
Httpeasyhost 02-22-2009, 05:30 PM I've been stuck at 45 verified buyers for about 3 years
serve-you 02-22-2009, 05:31 PM Why would it matter to you? That number is only the number of verified customers who have bought from you. Why would anyone care how many verified customers you have sold to? It's really supposed to work the other way around. I don't think anyone really looks at that.
Httpeasyhost 02-22-2009, 05:44 PM to me it is not a problem

That's my point. I find it irritating that they would leave a broken and relatively useless system in place for so long. The seller rep is visible when you're making a payment, although it's not as prominent as it once was.
It's not a huge issue. But I recall having had one or two people say that I didn't appear to have many customers.
HostiaWeb 02-22-2009, 06:27 PM They should either fix it or remove it.

I have the same problem it's stuck on 28, even I have over 100 transactions per month from verified PayPal users...
RS|John 02-22-2009, 06:43 PM Ive been stuck at 25 for about 3 years now. I don't even care about it anymore, would be cool if they fixed it though...
Orien 02-22-2009, 08:17 PM I called them last year about it and they said it's no longer being used on new accounts, so old accounts will have their numbers stuck.
Harzem 02-22-2009, 08:22 PM I've been stuck at 45 as well.
Does anyone have their number increase as it's supposed to? Or is everyone stuck?

I can confirm. A new Payapl account registered only but a year ago does not have this system in place on it. The numbers are no where to be found during the ordering process. I find it kind of annoying that just left those low ball numbers on your accounts... real nice paypal.
How hard would it really be to strip those useless numbers, I mean really.

Yeah, I asked them why they haven't removed the reputation numbers on current accounts and the person said she would ask her manager to call me back. Never happened - oh well.
woods01 02-25-2009, 02:54 PM I submitted a request through their contact desk and was told it's being 'escalated for resolution'. If I don't get a straight answer I think it's safe to assume the reputation system is bunk at this point. How hard would it be for an employee at Paypal to answer such a mundane question.
peter_anderson 02-26-2009, 02:22 PM I have 0, even though my business account has had hundreds of payments.

Agree with you....
Gears 02-26-2009, 03:21 PM We are stuck at 4. We've done business with over 20 companies that sent in payments via PayPal (excluding monthly hosting payments). Surely the number should be higher than 4 at this point. It hasn't budged since we first opened it in 2005 and I always wondered why. I wish they would just remove the number if they aren't going to fix it. 45 doesn't look that bad, but 4 does.
IGXHost 02-26-2009, 08:18 PM I didn't know it was stuck until I read this thread. No wonder I've been stuck at 112 since last April.
