FrankLaszlo 02-21-2009, 11:28 AM Livezilla is free, and works great.
I did find an XSS vulnerability in it, but it has been reported and should be fixed in the next release. Send me a PM if you want the patch to fix it.
dreamcodedesign 02-21-2009, 11:32 AM Second. Live Zilla is a great free solution. This pretty good also, http://www.volusion.com/livechat_software.asp
PruHosting 02-21-2009, 12:52 PM I personally use LiveZilla, I'm highly satisfied. Would definitly recommend it.
Chalipa 02-21-2009, 01:44 PM Livezilla all the way :)
JohnJ 02-21-2009, 02:26 PM Are you looking to pay monthly or a one-time fee? Have a look at Kayako, it's pretty good.
teachforjune-Scott 02-21-2009, 03:28 PM Do a search on wht. This has been discussed a gazillion times in the bast few weeks. And it seems that the answers are all the same:
free=livezilla
inexpensive monthly=providesupport
moderate monthly=kayako
expensive monthly=liveperson
one-time fee=phplivesupport or livehelp
There are of course other options, but these are the ones that keep coming up time and time again in these MULTIPLE threads about live chat software. :)

Agreed! Good software, rock solid, the only downside is the slow development pace.
greatandrew 02-22-2009, 11:18 AM I used kayako to support hosting company and really satisfied! Good and reliable software!

Exactly no doubt, We have been using it from past two years now.
5wayshost 04-13-2009, 08:08 AM I use phplive, its great and available for sale also.
under_gravity 05-01-2009, 07:06 AM Livezilla is great. crafty live chat is free but not great.
Tristan Perry 05-01-2009, 08:35 AM Just to point out, the user says he wants it for $50 with "no subscription fees" - signifying no monthly fees.
If this is the case, LiveZilla would be best. I personally use Kayako Live Support, although this has a monthly subscription fee.
overlineindia 05-25-2009, 12:50 PM YES use LiveZilla and enjoy...FREE of Cost

Can someone please explain the difference of like, not using the free option?
Does it require like special software / resources or something, so that the hosted solution makes sense?

You're wishing for a comparison in the free option to the paid option? Well, the FREE option (LiveZilla) requires it to be hosted on your servers, you maintain it, if it breaks, you're fixing it.
Kayako you also host on your server, however it is a paid client, and in my opinion a bit better admin interface as well as chat screen then LiveZilla does out of box.
Provide support, and live person (a premium service provider) are both hosted by the developers. Provide support is MUCH cheaper then Live Person, however Live Person, if budget allows, is arguably the best Live Person software available.

Thanks Aquarius, that mostly clears up what i'm trying to understand. I guess the next step is to play around with the different things and see what works.
Does anyone know the price differences?
Does anyone think / know whether liveperson (or whatever) might look better for branding purposes, because it is the more $ option? Or do most clients not really care that it has like a liveperson logo on it? :)

teachforjune-Scott 05-29-2009, 06:28 PM I don't think that anyone cares, as long as it works and doesn't look cheap (as in appearance, not cost). LivePerson costs 99/operator and unless you do a heck of a lot of business via chat, I don't think it's a wise investment.
We use providesupport and are mostly happy. We just wish there were stats that we could see after people leave our site so that we can track them better.
