We have been working on a WHMCS Windows Application. We are now at version 1.4, and have decided to release it to the public. We have used it, and has saved us a lot of time and work.
Here are some features of WHMCS Launch App:
Embedded browser for your WHMCS Client Admin area.
Private Notes box.
Alert via System Beep and a Balloon popup from the System Tray on New/Open Support Tickets, and Customer-Replied Tickets.
At a Glance area which features Client Stats, Support Ticket Stats, Products/Services Stats, and the 5 oldest Invoices.
Version 1.5 will include System Beep and a Balloon popup for new orders, new cancellations, and many other features. We will also update the layout to make it more organized and stylish.
This is a very active project, and updates will be released often.
We currently are offering a Trial of 1 week on the software if anyone would like to test it.
The monthly license will be $5.00 when we are sure that everything is working 100%.
We would like those who try the software to send us feedback, and any input on what could be added/removed would be wonderful. We will take everything into consideration.

Is there any particular reason this is being charged as a service? (monthly fee) It seems to me that there really is no benefit from this for the end user. I'd be interested if it was a one time fee, and maybe pay for upgrades/support. But I'm not interested in another monthly bill for a product.

We are currently working on Version 2.0. of WHMCS Launch App. Here's some information on Version 2.0.
Version: 2.0
Version 2.0 is now being developed. Version 2.0 will be rebuilt from the ground up. Some new features in Version 2.0 will be ease of use, ticket list, pending orders list, new sound alerts, and many other features.
Version 2.0 will use the new license function. This will allow you to use the same license key for every employee, without the need to purchase a new license key. We will also be using a local cache encrypted key which will allow your to start the software even while the license server is unavailable, due to either technical issues or firewall issues.
The private notes will be retrieved from WHMCS. This will allow you to save/view your private notes in the software, and in WHMCS Client Admin area.
Other new features will include a search area. You will be able to search for a client via the WHMCS Launch App. This will allow you to view client data easily, and quickly.
Below is a short list of the updates.

New layout. Everything is being built from the ground up.
Private notes save to your account in WHMCS Private Notes database.
Search for Clients
Ticket List (Allows you to click "View" and brings up the ticket in the Embedded Browser)

That true is should be one time fee

The main reason there will be a fee to use the software is because of the time we will be putting into it, plus the support we will offer. We plan to keep the software updated, and release a new version often (at least 1 version per new version release of WHMCS to keep up with their system.).

htb @ Both options will be available. Not everyone is able to come up with a one-time fee. :)

That works for me. As long as there's an option for 1 time fee that reasonable, I'm happy. :)
I'll keep an eye on this thread for when we decide to deploy WHMCS.

You should offer an annual license :) Monthly is a pain.
An idea for the future, one client to multiple WHMCS. That would be very useful.

Here is some details about WHMCS Launch App 2.0:
Open(New)/Customer-Reply Ticket Alerts

At a Glance
View stats quickly from the At a Glance area. It displays your client stats (Active, Inactive, and Closed), your support ticket stats (Open, Answered, Customer-Reply, On Hold, and In Progress), your products/services stats (Pending, Active, Suspended, Terminated, Canceled, and Fraud), and your 5 oldest unpaid invoices.
Private Notes
Save notes for yourself. This can be very useful when you're needing to save information like login details, nameservers, and other common information you may need.
Ticket List
View your Open, Answered, Customer-Reply, On Hold, and In Progress tickets in a neat layout. You can click these tickets to view/reply/manage them. Working with your support tickets has never been so easy. You're able to change how often this list is updated (For instance, every 5 seconds or every 5 minutes).
Pending Order List
View your Pending Orders in a neat layout. You can click these Orders to view and manage them. You're able to change how often this list is updated (For instance, every 5 seconds or every 5 minutes).
Embedded Web Browser
WHMCS Launch App 2 includes a Embedded Web Browser that loads your WHMCS for you. This feature allows you to access your WHMCS Client Admin Area without the need to open a new web browser.
License Key
With WHMCS Launch App 2, you are now able to use the same license key for all of your employees. You will no longer need to purchase more then one license. Each license is valid for one (1) WHMCS system. Share, work as a team, and save!
License Fees
We will release the license fees in 4 days from today. This allows us to make sure all bugs are worked out of the new version. We don't want to sell you a buggy software.
