(Of course at my age your whole life is lately)

My brother has his own computer store and is normally a pretty smart guy. I thought you might enjoy the following email from him.

"Hi Brother:

Normally I get very little done during business hours as far as working on customers computers. With walk-in traffic and telephone calls there is just not much time left. I get 90% of my work done after hours by locking the door and not answering the phone.

It's about 5:30 P. (Close at 5P). I'm checking out a new modem. I like to do this by setting it up to call my ISP and see if I can log on. I enter the phone number and other info and start the call.

At this time the store phone starts ringing. I smile and wonder what ding dong is NOT going to reach me. I check the computer and it is still waiting for the ISP to answer.

After the store phone rings about 20 times I'm wishing that the double-dipped ass-h*** would hang up. Gets irritating after awhile."

LOL!

I usually don't make *too* many stupid mistakes, but I did a few weeks ago. It was at 2AM, so give me some credit. :)

I read about a ProFTPD DoS attack and I was about to implement the fix on the servers I managed. But first, I wanted to make sure our version was affected. So I FTP to my own box (I've got ProFTPD running on it of course) and execute the dangerous command. I also have a console running top. I see proFTPD climbing, and it starts to take up 97% of the resources.

My computer started slowing down. I started cursing about the damn Netscape and how it always crashes my computer. I said to myself, "I didn't even get to see if ProFTPD would crash the computer!"

Heheh. I realized it after I pressed the reboot button. :)

This happened a couple of weeks ago...I was preparing a new Rack in the data center. I got the switch installed, and wanted to make sure the server I set up behind it were all reachable (none of the servers were live). I ran into a problem, and so I figured I would reset the interface on the switch...so I issued the shut command, and all of a sudden my telnet connection dissappeared.

To quote my hero :homer: d'oh!

I received notice from my English teacher that I was missing some assignments. I just found them all completed in my bag.

The dumbest thing ive ever done was telling my gf that she was starting to look a little chubby, lets see you beat that!!! By the way I was going to submit a picture to the thread on getting to know one another, but Id prefer to wait until the swelling in my left eye goes down :) jjk

This wasn't recently, but this was the stupidest thing I ever done... I was about 5 years old and I was playing with some matches. I lit one and watched it. I thought it was cool. Eventually it burned my hand so I dropped it on the wooden floor. I panicked thinking the floor would burn, so I kicked it right under the couch. Needless to say, we needed a new couch and I needed a new butt from the whooping I got that day! :)
