There is a domain name that is about to expire and I would like to buy it, what is the best way of doing this, ive heard that sometimes cyber squaters buy domains and hold them ransom, the domain was originally sold by enom, any suggestions or help would really be appreciated.

Look them up in the whois and email the Registrant.

Yogurt there are programs that offer domain reservation services that automatically attempt to register the domain on your behalf. I'd see if enom offers anything like that, you'd have a better chance of getting the domain that way. If you go and email the person that has it they are going to want to sell it to you or just keep it thinking it's worth not letting go.

I agree with woods01, if you show any interest to the owner, they'll hang onto it and try to extract more money for it. Heck I'd probably do that ;)

You may want to use http://www.snapnames.com/ to backorder it. If the registar is GoDaddy, use GoDaddy's backorder service since they get the first pick at it.

I heard from someone that enom had a backordering thing too, but i never found it.
Ive been waiting for this domain for around 5 years, now that its finally about to expire i want to make sure i get it.

I've never heard of ENOM's tool. I don't see it on their site either. Out of curosity who is the current registar of the expiring domain?

I'd recommend you use Snapnames, as GCM suggested.
However, depending on the registrar they may have their own backorder tool which may stand a better chance of obtaining the domain first, as GCM suggested. :)

eNom uses NameJet. Good luck.

Yogurt, I wouldn't get your hopes up. I was eyeing up a name once that was on GoDaddys aftermarket. The bidding was like at $15 a few hours to close. I was like wow im gonna get this domain that's great. Well a few minutes prior to the close the bidding was in the thousands and my $15 didn't go anywhere:)
You'll have to post on here if you ended up getting the domain.
