Hi all!
I have a small problem with a Raq4i I acquired recently.
It boots and runs fine and I can wander around in the admin pages fine but after 5 mins I`m locked out.
I have noticed upon boot-up that the LCD display indicates "Firewall starting in 5 minutes" and it counts down until the 5 mins are up and then I`m out!
I can`t seem to find anywhere in 5 minutes to disable or modify the firewall settings to allow me to play about with web pages and servers (this is my first foray in to this side of networking).
So does anyone have any ideas or pointers they can throw my way??
All I can tell you about my Raq4 is it`s the i model, it has 512MB RAM (its max I believe) one of those god awful black jacketed noisy 20GB Segate drives. I intend to swap the drive out as soon as I can find out how to clone the noisy seagate.
Any assistance greatfully recieved
Thanx
Al

I haven't run the Raq4 interface in a long time (all my systems now run some version of CentOS+BlueQuartz), but if I recall, you should be able to go to the "Control Panel" button (after logging in as http:site/admin), then click "Services" at the top of the screen, and the firewall should be listed. Uncheck the box next to it, then select "Maintenance" and then click on "Reboot".
If this doesn't work, then try enabling telnet (from the same i'face as above), and logging in from a PC on the same subnet as displayed on the frontpanel -- i.e. if it says "268.194.30.5", then set up the PC to be "268.194.30.6" and give it a try.
If you don't even have these buttons, then you've got a different, updated software load, and you should post a screenshot of the admin screen here so we can ID it for you.
Finally, I'll say this: a firewall was not standard on the Raq4i install. Your system may have someone's aftermarket firewall package. It could be from RaqCop (http://www.raqcop.com), it could be from RaqTweak (http://www.raqtweak.com), or from someone else (like Sun's original Raptor firewall). If you can figure out whose firewall it is, then contact them.

Hi, thanx for your reply.
The only options I have under conrol panel/services are....
Web Server(Always on)
Email Server Parameters...
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Server
Telnet Server
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Agent Parameters...
Knox Arkeia File Backup (v4.2.11) Parameters...
Legato NetWorker File Backup (v6.0.2) Parameters...
Veritas NetBackup File Backup (v3.4.J0850645) Parameters...
ASP Administrative Server
Domain Name System (DNS) Server Parameters...
Access By Domain Web Reports
There was no option for firewall or anything along those lines.
Email Server was already checked but Telnet was not, I checked telnet and I could then login via cmd but only in the same manner as thru the WebGUI/HTTP, i.e. I only get 5 minutes before the firewall comes up and I`m out thru telnet too.
I can see a re-install coming up here and I don`t know how to do that either:o

OK Update time....
I managed to acquire an image from Sun for the RaQ4/i (960-RAQ40101BU.iso.gz)
I extracted it and burnt it as an iso with Nero and bunged it in my laptop.
The RaQ seems to be going thru the motions and shows different percentages, filenames and scripts and stuff I don`t fully understand, then it comes back to the Cobalt Networks logo then Loading Kernel... then just loops between the two.
I used a new WD 80GB drive so I`ve still got the original installation on the noisy seagate.
I`ve been thru the restore process 3 or 4 times now and all that happens is the cobalt networks logo and the Loading Kernel... message and it just cycles between the two.
The screen on my laptop does have a message saying...
"During the restore process, the server appliance may automatically reboot itself and perform other installation tasks. The complete restore process may take 15 minutes or longer. This process must be allowed to complete without interruption for a successful restore of the server appliance software to it`s original factory-fresh condition"
This has been cycling now for way longer than 15 minutes and I`m unsure if it`s still doing stuff of it`s stuck or whatever.... I`m lost now!
Help!

***Further Update***
I just swapped out the New WD 80GB disk for a used 40GB Maxtor (I don`t like Maxtors...had far too many of them fail on me!)!
Did exactly the same as I did wth the WD disk and it`s installed and is booting!
Why doesn`t it like my Brand New WD 80GB disk??
