greetings all,
I am in search of a new hosting service. I am a newbie, and am trying to get fluent as fast as I can, but am having some trouble comparing apples to apples with various providers...maybe you can help?
Our Site: we have a medium sized site, with maybe 50 pages, as well as roughly 15 gigs of streaming content, in the form of Real, Windows Media, and Quicktime movies, which we will be adding to into the future. We plan on selling products directly from the site, and are just getting our feet wet in e-commerce: ie cart software, getting certified, opening a merchant account.
I realize that for us, we probably have to have a dedicated server, because of the video, with a fair amount of monthly bandwidth. Also, since we do not have an IT person (that's *me*), finding a managed service is probably the wisest thing. And excellent customer service always makes things easier.
So, I have been looking at several options, including Hostway, which has a decent package, Rackspace, and Verio. I am open to other suggestions. It would be great to find a service that is expereinced with the whole streaming media side of things.
Anyway, I would appreciate your help, and can provide more info if you need it. Like I said, I don't know entirely what we need. our site currently is hosted by a partner to our company, and most of the tech issues and specs are not common knowledge to us. Thank you!
