View Full Version : Interesting Observation? (EarHost/FloHost)
Chachi 09-20-2002, 12:24 PM There was a thread this morning on the Web Hosting Forum started by Travis about the acquisition of Ear Host. I don't know where it's gone (probably deleted by a mod), but visiting the FloSupport.net site that Travis has designed for supporting FloHost members revealed something very interesting.
This is a post made on the FloSupport forum, it's visible on the main page:

Hello,
FloHost Web Services has been under attack of a Fork Bomb Attack. The users account has been terimated and in question. Everything should be back to normal. We apoglize for any problems this has caused.
-------------
The fact the servers were put through a Fork Bomb is not significant but what is interesting about this post is the poster's ID. Take a look everyone... This after FloHost denied all further association with Tim, James, EarHost and Paradise Designs.
Leaves a lot to be desired, unless I'm mistaken.
Darth 09-20-2002, 12:27 PM Interesting

I was discussing this with SWR last night, and while similarities do appear, you have to think "with an innocent mind". If there is a direct relationship(other than what he has already told us) with flohost and timmy/jimmy than i suggest flohost fess up so that travis doesn't get banned.
Yes, the deal does smell like tuna, we have to wait and see what happens....
BTW, last time i checked the thread was moved to related offers
Chachi 09-20-2002, 12:38 PM Yep, the thread is in the Related Offers forum. Just Checked.

"I did not want to say any of that earlier for fear of Tim or someone close to him finding out"
"I have gained Tim's trust over the months and he considers me one of his friends and he trusts me. I am now backstabbing him"
"saving everyone from him"
"I have the support behind me to make this all work so I am doing a hostile takeover of his company"
--------
Don't know if the majority of American based WHT surfers have heard of "Neighbours", it's an Aussie soap with ridiciulously over-dramatic storylines and amateur acting. Flohost's "spilling the beans" post reminded of Neighbours at it's worst!!
Hostile takeover of a company is achieved when you buy enough shares from a company to become it's largest share holder. Seeing as I don't see EarHost floating on any stockmarkets, and by FloHost's own admission, Travis simply used a little social engineering to hack into the servers and take them over, I don't think that counts as a hostile takeover... but it does constitute a public admission of the fact he used a form of "hacking"
phatronic 09-20-2002, 12:41 PM You just can`t deal with a company when there`s Timmy around there, EarHost still hasnt paid me for the design they`re using
Chachi 09-20-2002, 12:47 PM I thought R K Raja did that design?

We once lived not far from the "Ramsey Street" where they film it. Busloads of brittish tourists...they loved it. So we sent Kylie Minogue and Fosters Lager over there. :)

Nope, I designed the one EarHost is using now.

MilkMan 09-20-2002, 02:02 PM LOL.... Timmay!
*gets out the nachos*
2Grumpy 09-20-2002, 02:03 PM oh boy here goes the drama again
Seems like WHT would have all of Tim's IPs by now and just ban them all so he couldn't keep coming back with new/borrowed accounts.
Chachi 09-20-2002, 02:06 PM Well it's more a case of people people joining up with him. Although he isn't technically a big fish like Interland, Verio etc, he has a cult status on this board, and people seem to like associating with him, maybe hoping a little of his fame rubs off onto them?

So Timmay is "Travis" from flohost as well??
Aussie Bob 09-20-2002, 09:26 PM Just thought I'd grab a screenshot before someone  changes the info....:D
Chachi 09-20-2002, 09:31 PM I've known Travis for a long while now before he started with flohost, and no he's not Tim. Basically he (Travis) has a grand plan that see's him profiting from taking over a company which has no real assets apart from leased equipment which have months of overdue bills to be paid upon (which Travis says he will pay simply to get access to the server to move the clients to his own server). These are clients which Tim claims they have on those servers. Although why anyone would want to stay at a host which has been down for so long eludes me. He does this under the pretence of thinking he's saving the folks trapped in Tim's evil clutches.
How he will be able to support EarHost's business model is beyond me. They were overselling and underpricing to the extent that it would be impossible to make any profits even with the cheap US bandwidth that's available. It's funny that a few days ago Travis was telling me how he wanted to move away from the cheap/tacky hosting image people had of FloHost..... I'm sure associating with Tim/James has caused him more problems than simply being seen as a cheap host ever could have.
MikeA 09-20-2002, 11:50 PM I'll be posting more on this later, but Travis is NOT Tim. I have personnaly talked to Travis and he is just as irritated at Tim and his business practices as the next person is. Travis is just trying to make a bad situation a good one. But again I'll be posting more on this later.
I also agree with the person who posted that people flame way to much. You have a little bit of power and go do a little digging and before you have the whole truth you flame. Typically flaming in this matter will make you look like an idiot.
Did anyone stop to think that MAYBE Tim registered flosupport.com or whatever it is FOR Travis? I know that when I register a domain for someone using my Bulk Register account that it lists me as the owner....that doesn't mean I am. And on that note, if I register a domain for someone who turns out to be a scam artist...does that make me responsible...no.
You guys need to get the WHOLE truth before you start making accusations.
Rewdog 09-20-2002, 11:58 PM On WHT its guilty before proven innocent, everyone knows that  :(

LordLardo 09-21-2002, 12:23 AM i still don't know why people say tim is james and james is travis and that stuff, basically ive been hosted on a great deal, and its all good, nothing bad, nothing like timmy or anyone
AntiSpamHosts 09-21-2002, 12:59 AM What Mr.Lardo? Is it correct to say you are an EarHost client? If not, then my confused mistake.

No 'technically' about it. Tim isn't a big fish of any flavor, in any pond. :) As for cult status and people wishing to associate with with... that has to be the most insane thing I think I've seen typed on this forum in the more than two years I've been here :D
I think most businesses would be happy to print out Tim's resume if it ended up in their inbox, just so they could burn it.
I don't usually take a swipe at people but Tim has single handedly reduced the reputation of the hosting industry via this forum a great deal lately. While WHT is a speck in the ocean of the internet, there are a lot of people who come through here. If they were jaded before, Tim and the other snake oil sellers around here have certainly convinced them the whole industry is full of sharks and liers.
Not to wish bad fortune on anyone, but if Tim and his 'ilk' tripped down a set of stairs tomorrow, I don't think I'd shed too many tears.

Agree with you 100%! Sooner or later these 8th graders will learn to spend their money on porn and beer like I used to :D

I'm flattered... :D But I still stick to my post. Even though Travis has lied on this board and his shady dealings with Tim leave lots to be desired, I also need to add another part to the grand equation; which is that I've known him for a very long time, before he even started in the hosting business. It's typical of Travis to want, I said WANT... everyone to congratulate him because he's so young and running such a successful business, that he's making the right mature decisions for someone his age and so on. Taking over EarHost could simple be another expansion of his ego boosting trip that he desperately needs. Who knows?
Besides, Tim has no real capital to invest in a business, no tangible assets (e.g. servers), he doesn't have design skills, and his reputation is far from being angellic. Why else would you want to associate with him, apart from to get into the limelight eh?
