Please excuse my ignorance on name server issues. Let's say I have access to 2 different reseller hosting accounts. Can I have name server addressses from both accounts assigned to one domain name? The reason I ask is if I have the same web site hosted on both accounts and if one server goes down for some reason, will traffic be automatically directed to the other account?
Thanks - Eric.

To my understanding, this is very possible. Either add additional nameserver addresses (pointing to other server) to your domain record, or change one of the existing ones.
The way it works, I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) is if one nameserver is unreachable it will try the next and keep going down the line.
I hope that helps ya! You also may want to think (for efficiency sake) just getting a dedicated box and moving all of your clients onto one machine.

Thanks for your reply. No, I'm not a reseller. I just have 2 reseller friends who offer me space to host a small personal sites on their servers.
A related question though - does that also work with emails? That is, if one server goes down, will emails going to that server automatically go to the other server?
Eric.

Unless you have a service provider who has a real loadbalancing or redundancy option, you can not do this effectively.
Search this forum, and you'll find out why.
Normal nameservers won't pick which server is available.
Nameservers are chosen by your browser at random, if it chooses one, and that site is down, you won't get a second chance. Site will be down that user.
